[WATCH] NYPD Detective Spotted As Exotic Dancer In Viral Rap Video

Detective Melissa Mercado, a seven-year veteran of the NYPD, has gone viral after trading in her badge, at least temporarily, for a bra and G-string in a rap video.

New York rapper S-Quire released his “Doin That” music video in early February, but it wasn’t until this week that the views skyrocketed; thanks to the revelation that one of the video’s dancers is an active NYPD officer. Directed by Picture Perfect and distributed by WorldStarHipHop, the video opens with a close-up of Mercado’s twerking, setting the tone for a visual filled with pole dancing, VIP section performances, and bedroom lingerie scenes.

Despite the unexpected spotlight on her off-duty activities, Mercado, who earns $144,000 a year as a detective in the Bronx Special Victims Unit, doesn’t appear to be facing any disciplinary action. According to the New York Post, police sources say she’s a capable officer, and as long as she isn’t breaking the law, she’s free to spend her personal time as she pleases.

Meanwhile, the viral attention has only boosted the success of S-Quire’s video, which has now racked up over one million views—and counting.
