Senior Research Associate, Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford

Dr Jesus Lizana is an architect and a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. His research interests are the cross-disciplinary challenges to support the transition towards low carbon climate-responsive buildings.

Dr Lizana earned his PhD in low-carbon buildings at the University of Seville in Spain, after completing a BSc in Architecture and MSc in Building Engineering. He is engaged in many research initiatives and is the recipient of prestigious and extensive fellowships and projects. He also serves as a board member and scientific reviewer for many leading journals, conferences and research centres.

His work has been highly recognized, highlighting the 1st GECAT PhD Thesis Award 2020 of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry and Royal Spanish Physical Society; 1st Young Prize for Scientific Culture 2018; and 1st International YEAR AWARD 2018. Alongside his research career, it stands out his transfer capacity and industrial innovation, with participation in 5 research projects funded by companies, and consultancy work in the United Kingdom, India, Spain, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.
