I didn't go to the moon; I went much further. For time is the longest distance between two places.

The Moon is the natural satellite of the planet Earth, a big ball of rock orbiting, well, Earth. The Transformers tend to have a lot of battles there.

The Autobots are on a critical search for cheese, and skiing robots.

When the Autobot contingent led by Fortress Maximus arrived from Nebulos to Earth, they sought contact with the Autobots of Earth, who were aboard the Ark, led at that point by the Dinobot Grimlock. Instead of marshaling their forces, their first meeting degenerated into a duel over leadership under the Autobot Code of Combat, with the Moon picked as a neutral location. As Grimlock faced off against the injured Fortress Maximus's proxy, Blaster, the Ratbat-led Decepticons ambushed the Autobots. While the combined efforts of the Autobots allowed them to defeat their attackers, the Ark was crippled, and with the Steelhaven having left to rebuild Optimus Prime, both groups were trapped on Earth's satellite. The Mini-Con ship, the Exodus, crashed on the Moon, leaving half of it and many of its occupants trapped there. Dualor took control and organised them into a community—a very well-armed community who were not allowed to leave—and declared they had to defend themselves against both Autobot and Decepticon exploitation. Armada #9

When Dualor abducted Earth's Mini-Cons "for their own good," both Autobot and Decepticon attentions were drawn to the Moon. This led to the Mini-Con Moonbase's eventual destruction and evacuation. Armada #11

Megatron soon came to investigate, making sure to step on a human flag while he was there. The Autobots stopped him from obtaining the Mini-Cons sleeping on the Moon by sending a remote-controlled pod to reactivate them and transport them to safety. Between Two Worlds!

From there, he fired missiles at the Autobot base on Earth, but the Autobots managed to teleport the warheads right back at him. Earthshaker! The Ark teleported away, leaving a temporary space bridge portal lingering in its wake, the Decepticons managed to set the Nemesis down on a barren moon. For the first time, The Fallen, recognizing the space bridge as the technology of his people, spoke directly into Soundwave's mind, directing him to take the Decepticons aboard the smaller ship Longshot and follow the Ark through the portal. Complying, Soundwave's crew found themselves hurled into the future, appearing in the vicinity of Earth in the year 1961 alongside the Ark. The Autobot craft proceeded to crash on Earth's moon. Nothing up there but dry rocks and those revolting Onion Men.

In 1961, the Ark, crash-landed on the Moon, with Sentinel Prime and other Autobots aboard. The treacherous Prime had been trying to convene with Megatron, but his plans were waylaid by the crash as he and his crew were forced into stasis lock. On earth, the American government was alerted to the crash, and clandestinely used the Apollo 11 mission as a way of exploring the ship and its secrets. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first two humans to set foot inside the vessel.

Decades later, Optimus Prime and Ratchet travelled there aboard the Xantium with the express intention to explore the Ark and retrieve Sentinel Prime, after being alerted to the existence of the vessel who had previously been thought lost. Not long afterwards, the Decepticons used it as a staging point to launch their invasion of Chicago. Dark of the Moon

The Last Knight film

The Moon came under attack by the arrival of Cybertron, whose fragmented chunks scraped across the Moon's surface. The damage was so severe that chunks of the lunar surface were clawed away, exposing the molten magma of the Moon. The long-abandoned Ark as well as the Apollo 11 landing site were both destroyed in the chaos. This calamity could be seen clearly from Earth, with the junkyard Autobots taking notice with alarm and preparing to move out. The Last Knight

"Pretty breathtaking, huh?"
"You said it, Lugnut! Everyone knows there's no air on the moon!"

On his way to obtain the AllSpark on Earth, Starscream crashed the Nemesis on the Moon after his piloting was distracted by Blackarachnia. Dispatches The vessel was later discovered by a human remote-control space rover, which was accidentally stomped to pieces by Lugnut when he and Blitzwing landed near the Nemesis during their search for Megatron. Lost and Found

The wreckage of the Nemesis was later used as Starscream's base of operations as he cloned himself using stolen protoforms that were stored on the Nemesis. Five Servos of Doom Endgame, Part I Prowl and Lockdown briefly arrived on the Moon in search of Starscream, but were lured back to Earth by one of the clones. A Fistful of Energon Once he deemed his troops sufficient, Starscream again departed from the Moon with his clones in tow. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Peace and quiet would not last long there, though. Sometime after Starscream and his clones left, Megatron, Starscream's head, Shockwave, and Lugnut transwarped there on Omega Supreme. There, the Decepticons proceeded to tear apart the Nemesis to construct three clones of Omega Supreme and hacked into Arcee's head to get the access codes to the giant Autobot so they could bring these clones online. During this, Starscream was able to roll his way into the Nemesis, where his clone army was stored. He used one of the stolen protoforms on the ship to help form himself a new body, letting him finally be able to stand against Megatron. His victory was short-lived however, as Megatron blasted each unactivated clone, and then blew off Starscream's lower half. With the processes done, the new Lugnut Supremes (with Lugnut inside Omega controlling them) transformed and rose up, and headed straight to Detroit. Endgame, Part I
