National Telehealth Conference 2024
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' HRSA hosted the National Telehealth Conference, the largest federal conference on telehealth issues. The meeting brought together public and private sector leaders to discuss telehealth best practices. Over 2,700 registrants had the opportunity to hear from HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Andrea Palm, and telehealth experts on a variety of topics, including: efforts to expand access to tele-behavioral health services through interstate licensure; implications of health policy to inform telehealth’s future; opportunities for telehealth to expand access to services for underserved and low-income communities; health care innovations and future telehealth technologies; and expansion of broadband connectivity and adoption of telehealth to improve health equity.

During the session, a novel approach was shared that provided critical assessments and care for neonates after difficult deliveries using telemedicine. The learning objectives included identifying barriers to optimal care for neonatal encephalopathy in rural areas, learning about strategies such as telemedicine to evaluate neonatal encephalopathy and improve the parent experience, and understanding how telemedicine applications were being expanded to other types of care in newborns and children.
