今回は割高な気がした : Katsuya Yokohama Tsurumi Higashiguchi Ten

I ordered a katsudon (matsu), pork miso soup (small portion) and a salad set. I didn't eat any of the rice in the bowl, but I still felt full. The amount is good, but is this really the equivalent of two eggs? Also, the flavor was lacking. It doesn't have any flavor, right? The salad (I took just one bite in the photo) was served ice cold in the bowl and was very fresh, and the individually wrapped green shiso (perilla) dressing was also chilled and very satisfying. The pork soup was just the right flavor and delicious. The couple sitting next to me at the counter also said it was delicious.

First visit. Basically, it has an atmosphere similar to that of Gyudon (Beef bowl) bowl chain restaurant that is popular among men. The main seating is at the counter, there is one table that seats three people, and two tables that seat four people. However, instead of purchasing tickets from a ticket machine, you can take your time deciding on your menu and ordering after you sit down, so it's no different from a regular restaurant, which is a good thing. There are counter seats lined up all the way from the entrance to the back of the store, and across the aisle from the staff are sofa table seats for four people. The place was empty, so I wish they had shown me to a seat at the sofa table. As for the taste, it was freshly fried, piping hot, and had a light flavor similar to chicken breast, so I could eat it without feeling heavy on my stomach, which was just what I liked. Unlike high-end katsu restaurants, the pork cutlet is not served on a wire rack, so it gets soggy from the moisture in the cabbage and is difficult to eat as it is not cut into pieces, which bothers me. However, this is unavoidable in order to keep the price down, so it doesn't bother me. The pork soup was boiled down and too strong in flavour, but overall I thought it would be worth going back to. I also got a 100 yen off coupon, so I might actually go.
