🛠 Fixed

  • Fixed a bug where only the first 5 mentions in a post would properly link.
  • Fixed a bug where multiple tooltips for reactions on community posts could remain open simultaneously.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented premium theme purchases for some folks.

🌟 New

  • We’re working on making your follower count more accurate. Specifically, for those of you with less than 1,500 followers, the follower count no longer includes followers that were deleted or suspended. We had previously launched this for folks with less than 200 followers, then later for folks with less than 700 followers. With follower count not being a status symbol here (on [tumblr]) our goal is to make the count overall more accurate to accounts that would actually be able to see your posts in the Dashboard.

🛠 Fixed

  • [tumblr] was briefly down yesterday, so we sent one of our best developers on a coffee run for the tumbeasts. Once satisfied, they brought everything back online.
  • We fixed an issue that prevented posts in a community from being filtered based on the author’s blogname.
  • We fixed an issue that was preventing links from being added to text in the iOS app. Please keep your apps up to date!

🚧 Ongoing

  • No ongoing incidents to speak of right now.

🌱 Upcoming

  • No upcoming launches to announce today.

🌟 New

  • We’ve added some new functionality on the web search page. It’s now possible on desktop to view community, blog, and tag results. You can also now filter by multiple post types rather than just one at a time. Finally, we’ve added sorting and filtering options for community results. Stop by Search and Filtering Basics for some tips and tricks.
  • We’re also taking steps to improve the in-blog search infrastructure and address issues with searching original posts since 2017.
  • Reasons for community member removals and bans are now available in the audit log.

🛠 Fixed

  • We fixed an issue in the iOS app where replies were not being displayed under Activity when they are a selected filter option. Please update your apps!
  • We also fixed an issue in the apps where attempts to post to group blogs could fail. Again, please update your apps!

🚧 Ongoing

  • No ongoing incidents to speak of right now.

🌟 New

  • On the web, activity items have new unread and hover highlights to improve visibility.
  • We’re experimenting with new push notifications letting folks know when there’s activity in any joined communities you haven’t seen in at least 24 hours. You can control this new notification with the “community activity” notification setting.
  • Community owners can now set their community joining type to “New members can request or be invited to join.” Once set, besides the original invite flow, prospective members will be able to click a “Request to Join” button and admins will have a new “Requests” tab where they can Approve or Deny any request.
  • On the web, the “Do not sell my personal information” link has been moved to the footer of the right sidebar, so it’s now alongside the rest of the privacy links.

🛠 Fixed

  • We have fixed an issue causing custom domains to be trapped in a redirect loop.
  • We have fixed an issue causing some users to see the wrong activity filter options in the latest version of the iOS app.
  • We have fixed an issue causing Tumblr to count links twice in custom pages, which normally isn’t a problem, but it turned our 500 links per page limit into a 250 links per page limit. Tumblr now counts links only once, so you can once again include up to 500 links on a single custom page.

🚧 Ongoing

  • In the iOS app, we’re aware that replies are not being displayed under Activity when they are a selected filter option, and we’re working on a fix.

🌟 New

  • Reblogs with matching text content can now appear in search results. Toggle on “Original posts only” under the filter options if you want to remove them.
  • A new 3-day duration is now available for new polls.
  • Community moderators and admins now have access to an audit log which shows the history of all moderation actions, including the reasoning, timing, and the specific content involved.
  • To reduce clutter, the community Moderators and Admins tabs have been removed and replaced by having moderators and admins displayed at the top of the Members tab.

🛠 Fixed

  • We fixed an issue that made it impossible to block an anonymous asker when reporting them. Blocking anonymous askers still blocks their IP address from sending you further anonymous asks.
  • We fixed an issue that was causing some replies to disappear as soon as they were posted.

🚧 Ongoing

  • We’re aware that some users are seeing the wrong activity filter options in the latest version of the iOS app, we’re working on a fix!

🌟 New

  • On web, when managing your followed tags, tags are now listed alphabetically rather than by last-viewed.
  • The search box has had some design tweaks, and communities are now included alongside the other suggestions when the box is first opened.
  • On communities, the Popular tab, which was never fully implemented, and the Discover tab, which hasn’t seen the kind of use we had hoped for, have been removed for now.

🛠 Fixed

  • An issue preventing deleted or changed blognames from being immediately available for use for has fixed.
  • For a brief time, we were accidentally showing Blaze Pro ads to Premium subscribers who had set their Ad-free browsing setting to “Show only Blaze ads.” We didn’t mean to cross those streams. This has been fixed.
  • Ghosts briefly stole the Boop badges for nefarious reasons. We still remembered who to call, and the badges were returned.

🚧 Ongoing

  • No ongoing incidents to speak of right now.

🌟 New

  • Navigating to your Dashboard on the web will now direct you to the most recent tab you clicked on, with your pinned tab as the fallback.
  • We no longer show the member cap in communities now that it’s very high (10,000 possible members per community currently), unless the community is within 5% of hitting the cap.
  • When leaving a comment on a community post, you will no longer be automatically subscribed to other new comments on that post, unless they’re replies to your comment.
  • We’ve made some design changes to the post footer in communities, moving the comments button in line with reactions, adding a preview of commenter avatars, and vanquishing our nemesis, vertical whitespace.

🛠 Fixed

  • As of version 36.8 of the iOS app, adding tags to a queued/drafted reblog will no longer remove its queue/draft state. Please update your apps!
