I've met the same problem. Not all the C source code, but some of them(especially the short ones) could not be debugged. Maybe someone will help Mike and me^_^. Thanks in advance. Hi there - I'm trying to debug some C code from within Dev-C++. I hit F8 and Dev-C++ just locks up. CPU usage remains low. Is gdb installed by default? Is there anything I need to do to enable debugging besides setting the linker option? I tried installing Insight but I'm still getting the exact same result. I am completely out of ideas. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong, or what I need to do to fix the problem? Thanks! -Mike |

For some reason I can no longer customise the help menu, I really liked this feature and all of sudden none of the help files I select are appearing in the menu? Any ideas? Rory. |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi to all, this is maybe the first time I write to this list after some year as reader, but i need advice. ;) I have to write an application that performs a Crawl animation from a string of text. I tried using C# non-directx, but the result is not acceptable for a TV broadcast, it's not fluid enough. Do you know some place where I can look for related resources? I was thinking about OpenGL, wxWidgets or DirectX, I'm on the right way? Thank you very much Vito - -- Vito Tardia http://www.vtardia.com Creative Developer and Digital Artist -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (Darwin) iD8DBQFFUzh7DjR2VLHN4HsRAnT2AKCYK0v0MrBR/7cCsx3zCrIpY5219QCePvot TVDLDnblBOKydot5h25O1m4= =ryJZ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

Hello. =20 I am using the wxDev-C++ compiler. I created a wxFrame project. A resource = file was created with the following contents: #include <wx/msw/wx.rc>. I ch= ecked on the wxWidgets page and its says that this include is used if you w= ant the Windows XP look for an application. However, the compiler appears t= o be ignoring this resource file. If I make my own resource file with the s= ame contents in my project, it works! I tried getting an answer from the wx= Widgets forum, however, no answer. Can someone help please? _________________________________________________________________ Be one of the first to try Windows Live Mail. http://ideas.live.com/programpage.aspx?versionId=3D5d21c51a-b161-4314-9b0e-= 4911fb2b2e6d= |

Aloha from Honolulu, I have been using wxDevC++ for some time now. It is still in development and in fact just had a new version released. The forum can be found at: http://wxforum.shadonet.com/index.php?sid=de1d59fd84430c9b484ab002c520ecaf I tried to cut off everything after index, but got a Page Not Found error, so use the whole URL. I am not yet very conversant with the wxWidgets frames etc. But using it for console windows apps is pretty much the same as DevC++. The people at the forums have been extremely helpful and get my thumbs up. Just a message to say that the latest version of wxDev-C++ has been released. This one builds on DevCpp to provide support for Microsoft compilers, with support for more compilers coming in the future releases. It also provides a whole raft of bug fixes, not to mention the excellent wxWidgets RAD designer. It is good to see DevCpp looking alive and well. Check your allocations again. Your first loop - where you allocate - is using loop variable a. However, you assign the memory blocks using variable i (always=0). All allocations will then be assigned to the first entry in the array, resulting in a memory leak. The second loop will then try to free u ninitialized pointers. By the way - why loop backwards on 'a' and then look up using 'index-a'. /Per W On Thu, 2 Nov 2006, Daniel Yan wrote: > Hi, all, > > I met a problem when I free an array of points. Hi, all, I met a problem when I free an array of points. The source code is as following: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> char *http_parampos[255] = { "name=rule1", "protocol=tcp", "sourip=172.16.12.53", "sourport=3256", "desip=172.16.12.98", "desport=9685", }; int main(void) { int a = 5; int i = 0; char *value[7]; char param_name[40]; char *param_value; int index = 5; for (;a >= 0;a--) { strncpy(param_name, http_parampos[index - a], sizeof(param_name)); param_value = strchr(param_name,'='); if (param_value) { *param_value = '\0'; param_value++; value[i] = malloc(sizeof(param_value)+1); strcpy(value[i], param_value); printf("value[%d] = %s\n", i, value[i]); //free(value[i]); } i++; } value[6] = 0; i = 0; printf("come to error!\n"); for(i = 0; i < 6; i++) { free(value[i]); } getch(); return 0; } When I tried to free the memory, it breaks down. I have tried these code with gcc and it works. And if I free the memory just after I malloc the memory(see the coments line), it also works.Could anyone tell me what was wrong with my codes? I tried tó compile and link usin the command line on a dos shell but I dont find any help about the commands, neither within Dev C++ nor in the internet. Yes, Code:Blocks is really, really good. I normally use it for all new projects, and often convert older projects from Dev-C++ to Code:Blocks. I liked the package handling in Dev-C++, but since I do most of my development using different versions of MinGW, I have to rebuild any libraries anyway. Code::Blocks has a better editor, better integration with compilers, better integration with debugger, better support for syntax-highlighting of other languages or custom file formats, ... When having a choice, I definitely recommend Code:Blocks. /Per W On Wed, 25 Oct 2006, Thymian wrote: > > Per Westermark wrote: > > > I would say that the choice of Delphi was the largets stumbling stone f= or > > Dev-C++. The original poster said he found QT to do what he wants, and I already su= ccessfully used some GTK interface builder from within Dev-C++. Code::Blocks is a free C++ IDE built to meet the most demanding needs of its users. It is designed to be very extensible and fully configurable. Among others, it imports Dev-C++ projects. Built around a plugin framework, Code::Blocks can be extended with plugins. It even includes a plugin wizard so you can create your own plugins! (Free SDK downloaded separately) Finally, an IDE with all the features you need, having a consistent look, feel and operation across platforms. One of the developers said, how he joined the free Code::Blocks project: "I was a regular Dev-C++ user. I had used it for some time, and recently had tested its spinoff wx-devcpp by Guru Kathiresan. Around 2004, I thought that a C++ IDE should be written in C++ (and not in Delphi, like Dev-C++ is written), So I began thinking on the idea of a cross-platform IDE. After researching on various free IDE's, I found Code::Blocks and joined in the beginnings of 2005 to help debug and implement one or two features. I would say that the choice of Delphi was the largets stumbling stone for Dev-C++. If implemented in C++, a lot of people would have sent in patches with bug fixes and new functions, instead of just sending in bug reports and enhancement requests. The survivability of a project depends to a significant part on the amount of fresh blood that can cooperate to maintain it. /Per W On Wed, 25 Oct 2006, M. DevC++ is built in delphi, there are no plans or any future development. you could try codeblocks, which is still under development Codeblocks is due to release 1.03 soon. http://forums.codeblocks.org/ DevC++ is still useable, but won't be updated. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by graphical, since most - all? - code editors and integrated development environments do display the source code... Anyway, Dev-C++ have syntax highligting, class browser, analyzes context and can pop up a list of class emmbers etc to speed up typing. While having similar features as Visual-C++, it isn't as polished. But then again, there is a very significant difference in price of the two products - the Express edition of Visual C++ has serious limitations when it comes to supplied libraries, headers and what it can target. /Per W On Tue, 24 Oct 2006, M.
