I need help with uninstallation. For some reason the unistall program is not in my dev directory. How can I uninstall dev C++ without it? --------------------------------- Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please? Perfect. Join Yahoo!'s user panel and lay it on us. |

Indeed, the preprocessor directives you use aren't well placed: Firstly: You use #ifndef __stdio_h__ #include<stdio.h> #define __stdio_h__ #endif in your files as to not include stdio.h multiple times. however, stdio.h (and any properly built .h file) already deals with this issue (mostly the same way you did): something.h: #ifndef __something_h__ // // body of something.h // #define __something_h__ #endif source and header files using something.h: #include "something.h" Secondly: This mecanism only prevents the multiple inclusion of the .h file on the same compilation run, but every .c file is compiled seperately and then linked together to save effort (imagine recompiling a 300+ file project (or even a 10-file one) just to change one small thing in one file :D ) Jonathan |

It seems that you declare variables in main.h and then include the file from two source files. That gets you two sets of variables with the same name. Either modify main.h to contain: extern int my_variable; and in main.c actually instantiate the variables: int my_variable; or modify main.h to contain. #ifdef MAIN_APP #define EXTERN #else #define EXTERN extern #endif EXTERN int my_variable; and in main.c, write: #define MAIN_APP #include "main.h" and in other source files just write: #include "main.h" /pwm On Tue, 10 Jul 2007, Jan Mura wrote: > Hello, > > I have problems with compiling using gcc in Dev-C. > > I am trying to compile > two .c and two .h files. > > In main.h I have preprocesor commands: > > #ifndef __stdio_h__ > #include<stdio.h> > #define __stdio_h__ > #endif > /* and the similarly with standard .h headers. */ > #ifndef __bet_list_h__ > #include "bet_list.h" > #define __bet_list_h__ > #endif > #ifndef __bet_list_h__ > #include "bet_list.h" > #define __bet_list_h__ > #endif > > > In main.c and bet_list.c I have: > > #ifndef __main_h__ > #include "main.h" > #define __main_h__ > #endif > > > The output from make is: > > gcc main.c bet_list.c -o out_exe > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x0):bet_list.c: multiple > definition of `bet_no' > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x0):main.c: first defined > here > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x4):bet_list.c: multiple > definition of `max_bet_no' > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x4):main.c: first defined > here > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x8):bet_list.c: multiple > definition of `d_name' > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x8):main.c: first defined > here > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x10):bet_list.c: multiple > definition of `d_description' > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x10):main.c: first > defined here > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x18):bet_list.c: multiple > definition of `d_multiplicator' > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x18):main.c: first > defined here > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x20):bet_list.c: multiple > definition of `d_calculation' > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x20):main.c: first > defined here > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x28):bet_list.c: multiple > definition of `module_name' > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x28):main.c: first > defined here > C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.text+0xb2):main.c: undefined > reference to `print_' > collect2: ld returned 1 exit status > make: *** [build] Error 1 > > > Anyone knows where is an error. > I have tried to do it > using just simple #include, without the definition > the preprocesor variables but it doesn't work neither. > > Thank you very much > > Jan Mura > jan...@vo... > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express > Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take > control of your XML. Hello, I have problems with compiling using gcc in Dev-C. I am trying to compile two .c and two .h files. In main.h I have preprocesor commands: #ifndef __stdio_h__ #include<stdio.h> #define __stdio_h__ #endif /* and the similarly with standard .h headers. */ #ifndef __bet_list_h__ #include "bet_list.h" #define __bet_list_h__ #endif #ifndef __bet_list_h__ #include "bet_list.h" #define __bet_list_h__ #endif In main.c and bet_list.c I have: #ifndef __main_h__ #include "main.h" #define __main_h__ #endif The output from make is: gcc main.c bet_list.c -o out_exe C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x0):bet_list.c: multiple definition of `bet_no' C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x0):main.c: first defined here C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x4):bet_list.c: multiple definition of `max_bet_no' C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x4):main.c: first defined here C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x8):bet_list.c: multiple definition of `d_name' C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x8):main.c: first defined here C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x10):bet_list.c: multiple definition of `d_description' C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x10):main.c: first defined here C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x18):bet_list.c: multiple definition of `d_multiplicator' C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x18):main.c: first defined here C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x20):bet_list.c: multiple definition of `d_calculation' C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x20):main.c: first defined here C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccqobaaa.o(.data+0x28):bet_list.c: multiple definition of `module_name' C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.data+0x28):main.c: first defined here C:\DOCUME~1\tereza\LOCALS~1\Temp/cc0Yaaaa.o(.text+0xb2):main.c: undefined reference to `print_' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [build] Error 1 Anyone knows where is an error. You are mixing C and C++. strcmp() is used for zero-terminated C strings. When using the std::string data type, you can directly compare the strings just as if they where integers, i.e. by using operators < <=3D =3D=3D >=3D = >. /pwm On Sun, 8 Jul 2007, J Hall wrote: > > i cant figure out how to use the strcmp to compare the string noble to t= he object helium with the member string name...??!!this is the error that i= s stopping the compiler...44 C:\Dev-Cpp\Untitled1.cpp no matching function = for call to `strcmp(std::string&, std::string&)' #include <stdio.h>#includ= e <iostream>#include <string.h>#include <cstring>using namespace std;struct= elements{ string aname; int atomic_no; float atomic_weig= ht; }helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, radon; int x;main(){hel= ium.aname =3D "helium"; helium.atomic_no =3D 2; helium.atomic_wei= ght =3D 4; neon.aname =3D "neon"; neon.atomic_no =3D 10; neon.a= tomic_weight =3D 20.1797; argon.aname =3D "argon"; argon.atomic_no = =3D 18; argon.atomic_weight =3D 39.948; krypton.aname =3D "krypton"= ; krypton.atomic_no =3D 36; krypton.atomic_weight =3D 83.80; xe= non.aname =3D "xenon"; xenon.atomic_no =3D 54; xenon.atomic_weight= =3D 131.29; radon.aname =3D "radon"; radon.atomic_no =3D 86; = radon.atomic_weight =3D 222.0176; string noble; string title("\n\t You = have selected :\t"); string no("\n\t The atomic number for "); string is(" = is:\t"); string wgt("\n\t The atomic weight is:\t");printf ("\t The Beginin= g of the Periodic Table of the Elements \n");printf ("\t In the hopes of le= arning C programming and elemental values. \n\n\n");cout << "\t Please ente= r a Noble Gas you would like to examine." ;cin >> noble; if (strcmp (noble,= helium.aname)=3D=3D0) { cout << title << helium.aname; = cout << no << helium.aname << is << helium.atomic_no; cout << = wgt << helium.atomic_weight;}; cin >> x; }this is what i have got= so far... any help would be appreciatedthanks yohaan > _________________________________________________________________ > See what you=92re getting into=85before you go there. > http://newlivehotmail.com |

I'm afraid I can't say. Perhaps someone else on the list might be able to tell us. For what it's worth I've used both methods and I didn't notice any great difference between the two in terms of execution. Rory. Thank you Rory, But I would like to know which one would be better (in execution) as you said > myvector.resize(10); > for(int i=0;i<10;i++) > myvector[i] = 0; > or myvector.clear() for(int i=0;i<10;i++) myvector.push_back(0); Thanks, Lloyd On Wed, 2007-07-04 at 16:43 +0100, Rory Walsh wrote: > You can use the resize() like this: > > myvector.resize(10); > for(int i=0;i<10;i++) > myvector[i] = 0; > > More details on vectors can be found here: > http://www.cppreference.com/cppvector/index.html > > regards, > Rory. > > Lloyd wrote: > > Hi, > > How can I resize a vector (in STL) and initialize "all" the nodes with > > a particular value? > > > > Thanks and regards, > > Lloyd > > > > ______________________________________ Scanned and protected by Email scanner |

You can use the resize() like this: myvector.resize(10); for(int i=0;i<10;i++) myvector[i] = 0; More details on vectors can be found here: http://www.cppreference.com/cppvector/index.html regards, Rory. Hi everyone, I'm having some issues while trying to compile a dll in Dev-C++ with the = stdcall calling convention. I want all my functions to export only as = stdcall, without the @4, @8 and what not after them. What do I set on = the command line, and do I need a def file at all? I declare my = functions like: extern "C" __declspec( dllexport ) int __stdcall myFunction(void); And then in the .def file taht I have right now I do: EXPORTS myFunction@0 Because as far as I understood it you add 4 for each parameter that the = function has because that's the size in bytes of a Win32 pointer. But i'm having some issues getting it to work in other languages, = especially when returning HANDLE which is of course void*. Can anyone = help? I want it to be compatible with as many languages as possible. Regards Philip Bennefall |

Hi, This should help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_preprocessor For a multiple-inclusion guard, it would be something like this: #ifndef SOMEHEADER_H // or whatever symbol you wish #define SOMEHEADER_H /* insert whole header data here */ #endif I can't help you for Pascal though.. Hello, I would like to ask about the preprocesor directives. I mean the directives which are for including the header files . I remember something like #ifdef __someheader_h__ ... but now I cannot find it in my manuals. I hope someone will understand what I mean. It is for not including the header file several times. I have another question but maybe it is not a good place here. But it is about gcc compiler. Is the compiler for Pascal language in gcc somehow compatible with Borland Turbo Pascal? Thank you very much Jan Mura jan...@vo... |

Well that's interesting :D So I asked 'cd' what it's got to say for its self: 'cd /?' the help option for most commands in windows, and apparently (plus I tested) 'cd /d d:\mysourcecode' should take you directly to the right place in one go (useful for scripting maybe) You'll probably notice that the current folder is stored per volume: if you go from c:\whatever to d:\ and then back to c:\ by using 'C:', you will end up in c:\whatever again. Using 'cd /d c:' will have the same effect, but 'cd /d c:\' will take you to c:\ Jonathan On 6/20/07, brent lambert <bre...@ya...> wrote: > > just typing "D:" is going to do the trick.
