Hi Watson, FFTW 3.01 ( fftw-3.0.1-w32-pl1 )comes with following files: fftw3.dll fftw3.exp fftw3.h fftw3.lib fftw.map I linked fftw3.lib in the project options. When using FFTW 2.1.5, I add the following files to the lib folder: libfftw.a libfftw.la librfftw.a librfftw.la There might be something I am missing. Please help. regards Teboho >>> <wa...@wa...> 21/10/2004 19:26:34 >>> On 21 Oct 2004 at 16:25, Teboho Nyareli wrote: > When using FFTW > 3.01 binaries I add the fftw3.lib file via the menu project-> object > file or linker options in the Dev-C++. .lib? I believe that's your problem. You should be linking a .a file not a .lib file. I enabled the code-completion but nothing happened when I input code as follow: #include <iostream> #include <vector> using namespace std; int main() { vector<int> ivec; int ival; while(cin>>ival) ivec.push_back( ival); // Here I input a dot, but why nothing happened? BTW. When I update Dev-Cpp with Web Update, all packages listed. Why we don't check the profile or build info from our installation and list only uninstalled packages, but list all packages each time instead? It's hard to find what I have ever installed and what never. Thanks Zhenjiang |

Seems that you aren't linking to the lib. Make sure to put every file in its right place. The .h file goes to the include folder, the .dll goes to somewhere in your path, and the other files go to your lib folder. Then in your project options you have to add the .lib file to the linker options. This (from http://www.fftw.org/fftw3_doc/Complex-One_002dDimensional-DFTs.html#Complex-One_002dDimensional-DFTs ) compiles and runs fine: --- #include <fftw3.h> int main(void) { fftw_complex *in, *out; fftw_plan p; int N=16; in = fftw_malloc(sizeof(fftw_complex) * N); out = fftw_malloc(sizeof(fftw_complex) * N); p = fftw_plan_dft_1d(N, in, out, FFTW_FORWARD, FFTW_ESTIMATE); fftw_execute(p); /* repeat as needed */ fftw_destroy_plan(p); fftw_free(in); fftw_free(out); return 0; } --- Daniel K. Hi, I have included the example code from FFTW 3.01 tuturial. I just replaced fft_plan_dft_1d( ) and fftw_excute( ) with fftw_create_plan and fftw_one when using the binaries from FFTW 2.1.5. I also replace the header file fftw3.h with the ones shown below. When using FFTW 3.01 binaries I add the fftw3.lib file via the menu project-> object file or linker options in the Dev-C++. When using the FFTW 2.1.5 binaries, I add the libfftw.* files to the lib folder. It still doesn't work with this changes. #include <stdlib.h> #include <fftw.h> #include <rfftw.h> int main() { int N = 256; fftw_complex *in, *out; fftw_plan p; in = (fftw_complex*)fftw_malloc(sizeof(fftw_complex) * N); out = (fftw_complex*)fftw_malloc(sizeof(fftw_complex) * N); p = fftw_create_plan(N,FFTW_FORWARD,FFTW_ESTIMATE); fftw_one(p,in,out); //p = fftw_plan_dft_1d(N, in, out, FFTW_FORWARD,FFTW_ESTIMATE); //fftw_execute(p); /* repeat as needed */ fftw_destroy_plan(p); fftw_free(in); fftw_free(out); system("PAUSE"); return 0; } thanks again Teboho >>> Cary Haynie <xen...@gm...> 21/10/2004 15:11:55 >>> Those errors look would suggest that your missing a header file or something. Hi Can someone please explain what this code of line means: bind( sock, (struct sockaddr*)&socketaddress, sizeof(struct sockaddr); I know it means that I am binding the socket with the address structure but what is the: (struct sockaddr*)&socketaddress part? Is this something like a pointer called sockaddr that holds a struct and then references? socketaddress? Any help interpreting this would be great. Many thanks, Peter. |

Hello, There is a Dev-Pak now available for fftw at http://www.devpaks.org/ (it is listed under the mathematics section there). You may try using it. But It is for an older version fftw-2.1.5. HTH, Siva Chandra _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hi everyone, as a newbie, I am experiencing problems with linking the FFTW library to DEV-C++ compiler. I followed the procedure that Siva Chandra suggested on "trying to install FFTW library on XP" (avaliable in the mailing list achieves). The example program from FFTW compiles but the errors I get in linker are: c:\dev-c++\examples\fft\fft.o(.text+0x29):fft.cpp: undefined reference to `fftw_malloc' c:\dev-c++\examples\fft\fft.o(.text+0x42):fft.cpp: undefined reference to `fftw_malloc' c:\dev-c++\examples\fft\fft.o(.text+0x60):fft.cpp: undefined reference to `fftw_plan_dft_1d' c:\dev-c++\examples\fft\fft.o(.text+0x74):fft.cpp: undefined reference to `fftw_execute' c:\dev-c++\examples\fft\fft.o(.text+0x83):fft.cpp: undefined reference to `fftw_destroy_plan' c:\dev-c++\examples\fft\fft.o(.text+0x92):fft.cpp: undefined reference to `fftw_free' c:\dev-c++\examples\fft\fft.o(.text+0xa1):fft.cpp: undefined reference to `fftw_free' I have loaded the fftw3.lib to the linker in the project options. I am using the FFTW 3.x windows binaries (fftw-3.0.1-w32-pl1). Please help. thanks Teboho CSIR Miningtek P.O. Does anyone use plib with Dev-C++? I have the devpak but I can't get any programs to compile. I can get plib based programs to compile from a Cygwin shell, programs like FlightGear but not Dev-C++. I am not sure if it something simple like compiler options. Thanks, Nolan |

Hi, Recently I have strange problem with linking. One day everythink was ok, next day when I tried to compile the same project I saw: E://Dev-Cpp//bin//g++.exe main.o -o "Grrr1.exe" -L"E:/Dev-Cpp/lib" E:\Dev-Cpp\bin\..\lib\gcc-lib\mingw32\3.3.1\..\..\..\..\mingw32\bin\ld.exe: cannot open output file Grrr1.exe -LE:/Dev-Cpp/lib .exe: Invalid argument make.exe: *** [Grrr1.exe] Error 1 (it's also in new created console application in c++). When I run: E://Dev-Cpp//bin//g++.exe main.o -o "Grrr1.exe" -L"E:/Dev-Cpp/lib" from command line everythink is ok. I use Dev-C++ 4.9.9.0. Root direcotry is e:\dev-cpp. Any idea what is wrong? Thanks for help Marcin |

Or I must rewrite in python or java? > > It probably can. For sockets you have to use winsock. But remember that there are many incompatibilities. Some things to keep in mind: * Windows sockets are *not* file descriptors. That means no read(), no write(), and most important: *no close()*. You close sockets with closesocket(). * Winsock needs to be initialized with WSAStartup and finalized with WSACleanup. * Windows sockets are *unsigned*, not signed. Expressions like "sock<0" that are commong for detecting invalid file descriptors won't work. An invalid socket has the value INVALID_SOCKET. * The error codes (like EINVAL, ENETDOWN, etc) are present, but with the "WSA" prefix (WSAEINVAL, WSAENETDOWN...). * Instead of using fcntl for non-blocking sockets, use ioctlsocket. * select() will accuse a non-blocking socket as readable/writable most of the time, when it isn't. In this case, *every* send/recv call should check for WSAEWOULDBLOCK. * Because of this, you can't get high-speed transfers with non-blocking sockets... you hit the wall at 2~5 MB/s. * You check error codes with WSAGetLastError, not with errno. There are no strings for winsock errors (i.e. strerror). * inet_addr() will crash your program if you send it non-ASCII chars, specially if you run it in a locale other than "C". For network programs I usually have a header that looks like this: --- #ifdef WIN32 #include <winsock2.h> #define NET_STARTUP { WSADATA wsa; \ WSAStartup(MAKEWORD(2, 0), &wsa); \ atexit((void (*)())WSACleanup); } #else // *nix? #define NET_STARTUP #include <sys/socket.h> #include <netdb.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #include <arpa/inet.h> #include <netdb.h> #include <unistd.h> #define SOCKET int #ifndef SOCKET_ERROR #define SOCKET_ERROR -1 #endif #define INVALID_SOCKET -1 typedef struct sockaddr_in SOCKADDR_IN; typedef struct sockaddr SOCKADDR; #define closesocket(x) close(x) #endif --- I hope it helps. For mor info, look for the winsock documentation at msdn.com. Daniel K. O. |

Hi, all mates. I'm writting a p2p like server&client with glibc in Linux. It does low-level file IO, manipulate filesystem (create and delete files, walkthrou directories ... ) , communicate via sockets (TCP/UDP). Now I'd like to port it into WIN2K, to make my fellows enjoy it in office. Since not wiliing to learn WIN API totally, I want to port it via DEV-CPP, I mean the mingw32 libs it includes, with a little modification, But those libs seems not complete, I cannot find sys/socket in dev-cpp/includes. And none of my fellows wants to install huge of files, such as Cynwin... Can dev-cpp do this porting? Or I must rewrite in python or java? |

If you do -llibname, gcc will look for a file named liblibname.a. If you want to link something else, you can just specify the full file name on the command line, in the same way you supply the object files. /Per W On Sun, 17 Oct 2004, [koi8-r] =F3=D4=C1=CE=C9=D3=CC=C1=D7 =E0=C4=C9=CE wrot= e: > > Do I need to pass some magic keys to gcc, or it's just "-L\path\to > -llibname"? > And yes, It's C library. > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: dev...@li... > > [mailto:dev...@li...] On Behalf > > Of Daniel K.
