ver. 4.x is supposed to be downloadable (see links from http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp.html) from sourceforge and from Simtel but I got nada from either source: Using the sourceforge link: error message indicating it is the project's (i.e. Bloodshed's) error. Using Simtel: a searchable repository for software -- no hits on "Bloodshed", "Dev-C++" or similar. thanks. |

ok, I have one more idea on how to force Dev to use gcc. Go to Tools -> Compiler Options ->Programs. Then change gcc.exe to g++.exe, in theory, that should force Dev to only use g++ to compile, click ok and see how it works. _______ "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." -- Thomas Jefferson "If at first the idea is not absurd, there is no hope for it" -Albert Einstein --- On Sat, 1/9/10, er <erw...@gm...> wrote: > From: er <erw...@gm...> > Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] Compiler options : g++ vs gcc > To: dev...@li... > Date: Saturday, January 9, 2010, 5:58 AM > Brad Woosley wrote: > > gcc is used normally with the C language normally with > the file extension of *.c, g++ is normally used with C++ > language normally with the file extension of *.cpp. So > I would assume that if you were to change the file name from > *.c to *.cpp it would use g++ instead of gcc, but I have not > tested that. > > _______ > > Thanks, but these are cpp files. > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Verizon Developer > Community > Take advantage of Verizon's best-in-class app development > support > A streamlined, 14 day to market process makes app > distribution fast and easy > Join now and get one step closer to millions of Verizon > customers > http://p.sf.net/sfu/verizon-dev2dev > _______________________________________________ > Dev-cpp-users mailing list > Dev...@li... > TO UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www23.brinkster.com/noicys/devcpp/ub.htm > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dev-cpp-users > |

When you create new project select C++ and not C that's all. Switching existing project to C++ is little bit complicated. You can set individual files to compile as C++ in the Project Options\Files Tab - select the file and check Compile file as C++. However there is probably no similar switch for linking. In wxDev-C++ close the project and reopen it and it should link as C++. In the original Dev-C++ close the project, open ProjectName.dev file in the project folder and change IsCpp=0 to IsCpp=1. Reopen the project in IDE and build. |

Hello, When I compile a program (Win32 console) I get a lot of [ Link error ] unreferenced std::string:: .... which an error which based on posts I saw elsewhere (stackoverflow etc.) can be solved by compiling with g++ rather than gcc. Where in the dev-c++ IDE and how do I specify g++? I know it's possible because I have another project that shows g++ exe in the compile log rather than gcc. Thanks. |

Pointer arithmetic, if results to valid address, should work. |

Hello, I would like to store an address of a pointer I'm going to freed. So I made something like user_type o...*i, *j; j = i; free (i); X ... I would like to ask if after the free command does j points to the same address like before. It should be so, I think. Thanks Jan Mura I need the address because it points to the next member in a connected list. |

Hello, I've got problems with reading a file. I'm working on a connected list, but would like to store the list. The source code for writing to a file: do { fputs (member -> name, filelist); fputs ("\n", filelist); fputs (member -> number, filelist); fputs ("\n", filelist); member = member -> next; } while (member != temp -> next); ...seems it works correctly Reading from a file is: do { fgets (user_name, 50, filelist); fgets (user_number, 50, filelist); in_user(&pointer_to_user, user_name, user_number); } while (!feof(filelist)); And it seems it reads one more thing, so then in the list is one more member Thank you for a help in advance. I normally do a full install of MinGW separately, and haven't had any problem with the debugger. Hi, try sending your question to CodeBlocks mail-list (if they have) or CodeBlocks forums. Your problem look that you don't use a GNU GCC-compatible debugger. Try compiling without debugging. I don't know how is CodeBlocks, so I did all my best, because I still use Dev-CPP. Hope this helps. No, there is no "memory is memory" rule. I take it that you were trying to allocate huge amounts of data on the stack. But the stack is not intended for allocation of large memory blocks. Most operating systems requires a fixed memory region to be reserved for the stack. The OS may then allocate more or less memory into this fixed-size region but when the region is full it can't be grown. The information on the net wasn't "noise". If you do a wild-card search without knowing what you are looking for, you must realize that the majority of hits may not be relevant for you - such as how to adjust memory settings in FreeBSD. If you do narrow your searches more, you will get hits closer to your goal. But the best hits would probably recommend you to use dynamic memory instead of changing the size of the memory region reserved for stack data. /pwm On Sun, 25 Oct 2009, John Mcelvaney wrote: > > Thanks all.
