C++ compilers don't support word documents. Also, not too many people like to open word documents from unknown sources because of the problems with word macro viruses. Further - that was only a small part of an application. It emits some text but there are no game logic, and no repeat loop to allow the user to play again. That code is expected to just print some text and then end. /Per W On Mon, 16 Oct 2006 k.a...@at... wrote: > Attached is the source codes. > > it seems when I program small programs they work find this is a large one and I can't seem to understand what is wrong with it. > -- > 14 Meadowview Drive > Annandale, New Jersey 08801 > 908 735 6640 > k.a...@wo... > > > > -------------- Original message from k.a...@at...: -------------- > > > I need help. When asking for help - always attach the code you have problems with. Right now, we don't even know if you program in C or in C++, and if you with "floating" means the data type "float" or just floating point numbers. The arrays are too large to allocate as auto, i.e. on the stack. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to create nearly 5 arrays. The code below will manage to create exactly 5 arrays: // float allocation in C: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> enum { ARRAY_SIZE = 50000, }; int main() { float* array1 = (float*)malloc(ARRAY_SIZE*sizeof(*array1)); float* array2 = (float*)malloc(ARRAY_SIZE*sizeof(*array1)); float* array3 = (float*)malloc(ARRAY_SIZE*sizeof(*array1)); float* array4 = (float*)malloc(ARRAY_SIZE*sizeof(*array1)); float* array5 = (float*)malloc(ARRAY_SIZE*sizeof(*array1)); printf("Everything allocated\n"); return 0; } // double allocation in C++: #include <iostream> int main() { const int array_size = 50000; double *array1 = new double[array_size]; double *array2 = new double[array_size]; double *array3 = new double[array_size]; double *array4 = new double[array_size]; double *array5 = new double[array_size]; std::cout << "Everything allocated" << std::endl; } /Per W On Fri, 13 Oct 2006 gy...@cc... wrote: > > Hello All, > > Please help me with a trivial problemos. > > I want to create nearly 5 floating array of 60,000 each . Hi, Try this: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { printf("hello\n"); system("PAUSE"); return 0; } The instruction system("PAUSE") will allow you to see the black screen with "hello", otherwise it will flash and go. Good things do not last long. I am not completely sure but if I remember correctly you have to enable debugging symbols (or debugging info) in the LINKER options. Cheers, Omar. What's the trick to getting debugging enabled. I keep getting the screen saying "you do not have debugging information , do you want to rebuild", but can't step through the program. Then after multiple attempts and fiddling with the Tools/Compiler Options, suddenly debugging works. I have not found the combination that makes it work the first time. Any pearls of wisdom? I read in the e-mail of Per Westermark about drawn.c the existence of Gnu Visual Debugger. I tried to download from Internet but it isn't to the site (https://libre2.adacore.com/gvd/gvd-1.2.5-nt.exe) and now it is available only together with GNAT. Someone knows where is possbile to download gvd stand alone? Or other similar graphical debugger (in my experience the one included in DevC++ is not very stable). Thanks Alessandro |

You did remember to compile without optimization? Adding debug information but not turning off optimization makes for very interesting debugging, since the compiler will rearrange the order of the generated code compared to the order of the source lines. Debugging an optimized binary is only meaningful in assemply mode, to look for code code that isn't behaving correctly under optimization, i.e. that is compiled with wrong flags (assumption of aliasing for example) or if the compiler is suspected of generating incorrect (or bad) code. /Per W On Fri, 6 Oct 2006, IraqiGeek wrote: > Hi all, > > Rodolfo sent me the version in which he added winsock.h and that compiled > fine under Dev-C++. Hi all, Rodolfo sent me the version in which he added winsock.h and that compiled fine under Dev-C++. However, the GNU debugger was still skipping lines of code when I traced the execution of dcraw.c (which was the purpose of all this, so I could understand the various file formats its capable of dealing with). But thanks to Rodolfo's file, and a couple of questions on the Borland C++ Builder group, I managed to compile and run dcraw successfully under the recently released Borland Turbo C++, and its debugger is tracing every step of the code as it should and now I got a pretty good idea about all those raw file formats. So, thank you all, because without your help I wouldn't have been able to do this. Regards, IraqiGeek www.iraqigeek.com Sorry no quote today. Hi, I could compille dcraw.c with dev-c++ (mingw compiler). I just added #include <winsock.h> to dcraw.c and -lwsock32 to the linker parameters.
