TCHAR is either wchar_t or char depending on if you compile for unicode support or not. Same with the defined string functions. They translate to a wstrxxx or strxxx function. You should have a tchar.h file in your mingw include directory. /Per W On Thu, 28 Oct 2004, Yin Ming wrote: > Hi all. > > I was working on gcc environment. Hi all. I was working on gcc environment. For making some plugins and tools in my office (WIN2K os), I tried to use Dev-C++ to write them. But, too many things beat me. First is the string, the essential stuff but rather confusable. MS define too many typedef, such as TCHAR or LPCSTR, etc. I don't know which types and functions I can use in GCC, wchar_t or char? wstrxxx or strxxx? I need a manual about porting MS to gcc, any url or hints? |

Hello, As we can see the compiler complains about the class definition in the *.cpp file. > \myFolder\myClass.cpp In constructor > `myClass<Type>::myClass(const Type&)': > > 7 \myFolder\myClass.cpp syntax error before `;' > token > \myFolder\Makefile.win [Build Error] [myClass.o] > Error 1 And, the complaint is about the way you have created a new myClass object. Firtsly, you have declared a protected member object of type Type in the class declaration and not a pointer to an object of type Type. So I guess the declaration code should be changed to: Type* count; // Declare count as a pointer. Next, even after making such a correction, the way you should go about initialising this object is: count = new Type(item); and not as: count = new Type item; Even here, the class of type Type should have a logically correct copy constructor. > Lastly, here is my myClass.cpp code: > _____________________ > #include <iostream> > #include "myClass.h" > > template<class Type> > myClass<Type>::myClass(const Type &item) //default > constructor > { > count = new Type item; > } Hope this helps, Siva Chandra __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hi, Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Im trying to use a template class and I keep making mistakes. So now I am trying to create an isolated case, but its still broke. Please can anyone help me solve this? Here are the compiler errors that I get: _______________ \myFolder\myClass.cpp In constructor `myClass<Type>::myClass(const Type&)': 7 \myFolder\myClass.cpp syntax error before `;' token \myFolder\Makefile.win [Build Error] [myClass.o] Error 1 _______________ Here is my main.cpp code: _______________ #include <iostream> #include <stdlib.h> #include "myClass.h" using namespace std; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { myClass<int> test(5); system("PAUSE"); return 0; } __________________ Here is my myClass.h code: __________________ #include <iostream> #ifndef H_MYCLASS #define H_MYCLASS template<class Type> class myClass { public: //Default Constructor myClass(const Type &item); protected: Type count; }; #endif _____________________ Lastly, here is my myClass.cpp code: _____________________ #include <iostream> #include "myClass.h" template<class Type> myClass<Type>::myClass(const Type &item) //default constructor { count = new Type item; } ______________________ Best regards, Dane |

Hi ! I download SQLite source from www.sqlite.org and I am trying to build a = DLL. If I specify nothing in the "Object file output directory" then all goes = fine, and the dll is generate ok, but all C source and ".o" output files goes to the same directory and = this is not good. If a especify another directory to put only the ".o" files then the line = after dllwrap command shows: "Comand or file not found" and the dll is not generated ! It seems that the Dev-cpp is not finding something ... What I have to do to put all ".o" files in a diferent directory ? I tried "C:/obj" and "C:\obj" and the result is the same !! Hi Watson, It works fine with FFTW 2.1.5 version. I will just have to wait for a FFTW 3.0.1 Dev Pack. Thanks everyone for the help Teboho >>> <wa...@wa...> 22/10/2004 08:48:56 >>> I have not used the FFTW libraries and I don't have them installed and I don't have time right now to download them and write something to test them. But as I said, the FFTW 3.01 files look like they're set up for Visual C++. The hint is in the way the library is named. With Dev C++/mingw, the format for the library is lib<library name>.a Take a look at the FFTW 2.1.5 filenames, they follow this convention. I would not expect the fftw3.lib file to link properly. It's almost definitely in the wrong format. I think you're stuck with using FFTW 2.1.5 until someone comes out with a FFTW 3.0.1 Dev Pack for Dev C++/MinGW... unless you pick up another compiler. First of all I am talking about Dev-C++ 5.0 beta 9 (4.9.9.0. The problems arrised wen I installed the devpak found at http://bloodshed.net/dev/packages/wxwindows.html The installation was ok but it seemed I could not compile also a simple = example. The solution was to uninstall the wxwindows devpak and reinstall it = choosing one from http://devpaks.org/list.php?category=3DGUI Ok, hope this helps someone! Andrea |

Hi, I'm new in wxWidgets (wxWindows) under Windows with Dev-C++, but I found two things which could help You. First is the wx-Devcpp (wxdsgn.sourceforge.net/). This is "an extension of DevCpp" which "helps you to create Dialogs for wxWidgets visually". I tested it with some simple sample and worked fine (I had only few wxWindgets warnings). Second way are alternative wxWidgets devpaks: http://devpaks.org/ (see GUI subcategory) or http://www.andre-simon.de/doku/wxwidgets/devpak_install.html (look at compile options to choose which would be better for You). All solutions use latest devel release (2.5.3). Hope this helps Marcin |

I have run wxWidgets a lot, and like it. I have never tried any dev-pack. Always downloaded and built wxWidgets myself. Often having a large number of wxWidget versions available - both official and my own more or less patched versions. When starting to use wxWidgets, most needed options may be immediately picked up from test builds of the example source available when installing the wxWidgets sources. Below is the project settings I use for one project that is using wxWidgets 2.5.2. The settings is for a debug build. Too bad Dev-C++ doesn't have a good way of switching between debug and release builds. I either run with two separate projects, or store the options in a text file and later past in compiler and linker options for either debug or release build. At one point I wrote a little tool to patch the project file based on a template file, but it hasn't been updated in a long time and doesn't work with the latest and greatest version of Dev-C++. C++ compiler options: -DNOCBRT -frtti -fexceptions -fno-pcc-struct-return -D_X86_=1 -DWIN32 -D_WIN32 -DWINVER=0x0400 -D__WIN95__ -D__GNUWIN32__ -D__WIN32__ -DSTRICT -D__WXMSW__ -save-temps <=== definitely not needed -D__WINDOWS__ -D__WXDEBUG__ -Wall Linker options: -mthreads -Wl --subsystem,windows -mwindows -lwxmsw25d_core -lwxmsw25d_adv -lwxbase25d -lwxregexd -lwxjpegd -lwxpngd -lwxzlibd -lwxtiffd -lstdc++ -lgcc -lwinspool -lwinmm -lshell32 -lcomctl32 -lctl3d32 -lodbc32 -ladvapi32 -lodbc32 -lwsock32 -lopengl32 -lglu32 -lole32 -loleaut32 -luuid I have the following directory path info: Library directories: c:\usr\src\wxWidgets-2.5.2\lib\gcc_lib Include directories: c:\usr\src\wxWidgets-2.5.2\include c:\usr\src\wxWidgets-2.5.2\src\jpeg c:\usr\src\wxWidgets-2.5.2\src\png c:\usr\src\wxWidgets-2.5.2\src\zlib c:\usr\src\wxWidgets-2.5.2\lib\gcc_lib\mswd Resource directories: c:\usr\src\wxWidgets-2.5.2\include /Per W On Sun, 24 Oct 2004, Scott Simontis wrote: > wxWindows is a real pain to get working. wxWindows is a real pain to get working. The dev-pack is old. You need to go to www.wxwindows.org and download the latest version, then compile it. However, I have nevwe gotten it to work either way. wxWindows is supposed to be awesome, but I'm still trying to figure out how to install it. Maybe someone else here knows how to install it properly. I was getting all sorts of errors, especially redeclerations and so forth. --Scott Simontis-- Andrea Roveretto wrote: > Hello! > Some days ago I have downloaded the last version of bloodshed dev-c++. > For some time I used Borland Delphi although I am not a professional > programmer, just an hobby. > Ok, I had a look in the c++ examples that come with the sw and looacked > to he example to costruct a window... ok, I was astonished for two reasons: > 1) the final .exe file was really compact if compared to delphi. > the second is that I think I will never lear the meaning of all that > code just to build a window :) > > I have found in the packages some ment to help in building a guy. > I have choosen wxwindows (is it a good choice?). Hello! Some days ago I have downloaded the last version of bloodshed dev-c++. For some time I used Borland Delphi although I am not a professional = programmer, just an hobby. Ok, I had a look in the c++ examples that come with the sw and looacked = to he example to costruct a window... ok, I was astonished for two = reasons: 1) the final .exe file was really compact if compared to delphi. the second is that I think I will never lear the meaning of all that = code just to build a window :) I have found in the packages some ment to help in building a guy. I have choosen wxwindows (is it a good choice?). I have installed it = but have some problems: if I load the heeloworld example I cannot compile it: 5 D:\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\wx.h:15, from main.cpp In file = included from D:/Dev-Cpp/include/wx/wx.h:15, from main.cpp = 5 D:\Dev-Cpp\main.cpp from main.cpp=20 320 D:\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\defs.h redeclaration of C++ built-in type ` = bool'=20 etc... can someone help me to track if there is an installation problem? Thanks alot! Andrea |

I recommend you make sure that Dev-C++ put <vector> in the cache. Go to Editor Options->Class Browsing->Completion, and check "Use Code-Completion Cache". --Scott Simontis-- Justin Fan wrote: > I enabled the code-completion but nothing happened when I input code as follow: > > #include <iostream> > #include <vector> > using namespace std; > > int main() > { > vector<int> ivec; > int ival; > while(cin>>ival) > ivec.push_back( ival); // Here I input a dot, but why nothing happened? > > BTW. There are a couple possible reasons. Check to to make sure that "scan global includes" is checked on the code completion section, as I think by default it isn't. Unless you created the code completion cache when you first ran dev-cpp, it may take a bit to parse through the includes, as <vector> references some files within the \bits sub directory of the c++ includes. Also, the code completion has trouble occasionally when dealing with pointers and casts. I have not used the FFTW libraries and I don't have them installed and I don't have time right now to download them and write something to test them. Sorry.
