The gcc error message says what the problem is. You have both -c and -o, but gcc thinks you are compiling multiple files. Your CFLAGS is screwed up. You have forgotten the -I in front of the directory names. (And you have an extra space in there.) --tml |

Hello dev-cpp-users, I would like to know if it is possible to pass the contents of the current editor window to an outside program, and have the contents updated by that program. I basically wanted to send the contents of the editor window to a code beautifier program. -- Best regards, Malcolm mailto:m.n...@wa... |

While I agree that the present situation is not a "problem" per se, I personally would consider it a valuable feature to have an integral "Console Output" window that captures all the output from stdout and stderr when running from the IDE, even for GUI applications. This would not have to preclude the normal console window appearing for normal interaction. --- Kevin |

Subject: [Dev-C++] warning Hi there guys can someone please tell me what this means. 2 C:\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\backward\backward_warning.h:32 #warning This file includes at least one deprecated or antiquated header. Please consider using one of the 32 headers found in section 17.4.1.2 of the C++ standard. Examples include substituting the <X> header for the <X.h> header for C++ includes, or <sstream> instead of the deprecated header <strstream.h>. To disable this warning use -Wno-deprecated. |

Hello michele, Tuesday, March 30, 2004, 8:34:00 AM, you wrote: Sorry about my getting confused earlier, between yourself and Winston. Now, to your problem: m> input line from console, is something like "directx=20 m> driver=A0was not compiled into this dll. try opengl"? This is an error message from Irrlicht's compiled DLL. Just to get the problem straight in my mind, you are trying to compile the examples which came with Irrlicht 0.5 in DevCpp? I would suggest downloading and installing the newer version 0.6 from the Irrlicht site. Did you download the DevPak for Irrlicht? Did you install the DevPak? I believe that the code is being compiled for DirectX use, but the Irrlicht DLL which accompanied the program was not compiled with DirectX. As a user you have to recompile the SDK in order to use DirectX with Irrlicht. As a workaround look for a line in the source files which looks like: IrrlichtDevice *device =3D createDevice(video::EDT_DIRECTX8, core::dimens= ion2d<s32>(640, 480)); and change it to IrrlichtDevice *device =3D createDevice(video::EDT_OPENGL, core::dimensio= n2d<s32>(640, 480)); Recompile and it should run correctly. m> The same happens to me... "which dll" ? That of the graphic m> card driver? (That of Irrlicht?).=20 Irrlicht =A0 m> (Could it depend from the directx version installed on=20 m> windows?) No, it has everything to do with the Irrlicht DLL which comes with the download. I would suggest downloading the new Irrlicht (it is now at version 0.6) =20 --=20 Best regards, Malcolm mailto:m.n...@wa... |

Moreover I would like to ask you if my problems whit directx dll could depend from my OS, 'cause my graphic card has a new driver. dont worry about the mail :o) your problem is the same, the irrlicht dll for devcpp doesnt have = directx suport, for use directx, y=B4ll have to install directx9.pak and = recompile de irrlicht. Hi there guys can someone please tell me what this means. To disable this warning use -Wno-deprecated. |

per, easy on the newbie. :D seriously, if you're coming in from a visual c++ background, dev-c++ can be very annoying when it comes to console applications staying open. you can add a system("pause") call at the end of your program, but it won't work for some cases (eg destructors getting called @ the end of main()). so you can do what visual c++ does - run your program from a batch file which contains your program name, then a call to pause, or generally open a console window, and manually run your program. ___________________________________________________________ WIN FREE WORLDWIDE FLIGHTS - nominate a cafe in the Yahoo! hey all, whoever compiled those Boost libraries didn't compile them for MinGW. i've compiled Boost regex library before, and i got .o, .a, and dll files. using dlls from C++ is a pain in the ass because of name mangling. unless the functions are all wrapped in a C function, you'll have problems using the DLL. as an aside, i'm looking for Python MinGW builds. the workaround i have is to study the python headers and call functions directly from the Python DLL. so far i've not been able to build Python with MinGW. the only other option i have is to use Cygwin Python libraries, which would work fine, except for the cygwin.dll dependency. l8r, 'cos nuff said ___________________________________________________________ WIN FREE WORLDWIDE FLIGHTS - nominate a cafe in the Yahoo! that's because a lot of stuff gets #defined or typedefed in headers #included by windows.h. for instance, unicode-related stuff is in winnt.h. even in MSVC++, if you try to include headers in a particular order, it might ask for a lot of undefined symbols. for instance, i personally like including headers in alphabetical order. but when compiling Woe32 (got this from GNU.org sources and site :D) programs using common controls, you have to include windows.h before commctrl.h, or woe betide you. :D nuff said ___________________________________________________________ WIN FREE WORLDWIDE FLIGHTS - nominate a cafe in the Yahoo! Hello Wilson, Monday, March 22, 2004, 6:56:03 PM, you wrote: WJT> i=B4m trying to compile de 3d engine IRRLICHT, and i=B4m geting WJT> a message error, when is making the DLL: input line is too long.=20 WJT> what can i do? As it happens I have just compiled the Irrlicht graphic library and know what you have to do. Copy the DevCpp made makefile.win to something sensible. Mine is Irrlicht.mak Change the LINKOBJ line to the directory where the compiled object (*.o) files are located, deleting all references to ?????????.o files resulting in a line such as this: LINKOBJ =3D C:/Development/irrlicht/irrlicht/*.o $(RES) Save the file. Now under Project options on the makefile tab, select the Use custom Makefile( do not generate....) option, and browse to find your new makefile (irrlicht.mak) Compile... This should work. Best Mal |
