Stratedice
Stratedice is a top-down-card-fighting(throwing)-shooter(?) game.
You must explore the map getting collectibles and increasing your luck meter while getting cards for self-defense, and you may roll the dice shortly after beginning. The number you get from the roll dictates your health for the next level. Do you risk rolling low and getting less health, or do you trust your ability to gain more luck without dying?
Note: GameMaker's HTML5 module tends to be a bit... unstable. If the worst happens, go to the title screen, hold space and press the number corresponding to the last level you were in. You should be fine in general though.
(There is an in game tutorial, the text below is about the process of development we went through and nature of the game.)
We came up with the concept for this game after I recalled a certain tabletop game where every player could declare the game as over at any time, but there would be risk involved (as the other players could win from your declaration). We tried to do the same here - you may end the level at any time (after getting enough collectibles/killing enough enemies), but doing so early is risky, and doing so later is challenging. You must find the perfect time to get the best outcome. The reason the player is sent back a level with full health after their death is so they can experiment, try different routes, so they can get a good roll and better cards to attempt the next level again.
Also, NeoAqua insisted that the player know the main character's name is Gilbert.
