Julia Carpenter

Julia Carpenter is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in the Spider-Man franchise. The character first appeared in Secret Wars #6 (October 1984). She is also notable for being one of the main protagonists of the Avengers West Coast and Force Work storylines, a supporting character in the third Spider-Woman series and the main protagonist of her own four-part miniseries.

Fictional character biography

She was injected with a mix of spider venom and exotic plant extracts. Becoming a superhero like Spider-Man, Julia became the the second Spider-Woman, and has taken a new identity as Madame Web after a dying Cassandra Webb passed on her abilities.

Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman made her cinematic debut in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) as a member of Miguel O'Hara's Spider-Society, and is portrayed by Sydney Sweeney in the Sony's Spider-Man Universe movie Madame Web (2024).
