Belpre is a city in Edwards County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 97 people lived there.[3]
History
[change | change source]Belpre was created in 1879.[4] It was incorporated in 1906.[5] Belpre's name came from the French word "belle prairie" for "beautiful meadow".[6]
The first post office in Belpre was created in 1879.[7]
Geography
[change | change source]Belpre is at 37°57′2″N 99°5′59″W / 37.95056°N 99.09972°W (37.950669, -99.099822). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.41 square miles (1.06 km2). All of it is land.[2]
Climate
[change | change source]Belpre has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Belpre has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[8]

[change | change source]The 2020 census says that there were 97 people, 40 households, and 28 families living in Belpre. Of the households, 75.0% owned their home and 25.0% rented their home.
The median age was 26.8 years. Of the people, 62.9% were White, 1.0% were Native American, 21.6% were from some other race, and 14.4% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 69.1% of the people.[3][9]
