Area codes 713, 281, 832, and 346
Area code 713 is a telephone area code in the state of Texas, United States. It was established in 1947 as one of the original area codes in the North American Numbering Plan and covers the city of Houston and its immediate surrounding areas. It was split by 409 in 1983 and 281 in 1996. However, the boundary between 713 and 281 was removed on January 16, 1999 and it became an overlay. 713 was also overlaid with 832 on that same day. It was also overlaid with 346 on July 1, 2014[1] and will be overlaid with 621 on January 23, 2025.[2]
