Harlan Ellison (27. maj 1934 – 27. jun 2018)^[3] bio je američki pisac naučne fantastike poznat po svom neugodnom karakteru, 1.700 napisanih knjiga i priča i po činjenici da je najnagrađeniji pisac SF-a svih vremena s 54 raznih nagrada od kojih se ističe 11 nagrada Hugo.^[4] Njegova najpoznatija dela su priče iz 1960-ih Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream i A Boy and His Dog. Tokom svoje duge karijere Ellison je često radio za televiziju i pisao je scenarije za epizode serija Star Trek i The Outer Limits,^[5] a sarađivao je i u serijama The Twilight Zone i Babylon 5.
