Constantin Brâncuși
Constantin Brâncuși [konstanˈtin brɨnˈkuʃʲ] (franc. Constantin Brancusi [kɔ̃stɑ̃ˈtɛ̃ bʁɑ̃kyˈzi]) (Hobița, 19. februar 1876. – Pariz, 16. mart 1957.), rumunski vajar koji je radio i stvarao u Francuskoj i Rumuniji. Jedan je od najuticajnijih vajara s početka XX veka. Smatra se da je u tradiciji modernizma razvio skulpturalnu apstrakciju i otvorio put za nadrealizam i minimalizam 60-ih godina.[1] Njegova djela se nalaze u muzejima širom svijeta, počev od Francuske, SAD, Rumunije i Austrije.
Brankuzi je rođen u rumunskom selu Hobiti u Karpatima 1876. godine. Roditelji su mu bili siromašni pastiri. Sa sela je pobjegao u Krajovu i tu se prijavio u školu umetnosti gde je osim u obrazovanja u rezbarstvu došao i do osnovnih znanja.
Školu je završio 1898. godine i odlazi na studije vajarstva u Bukurešt, a 1903. godine u Minhen i konačno u Pariz. U Parizu je studirao na „Školi lepih umetnosti“ i kasnije radio u ateljeu Ogista Rodena. Postepeno je stvorio svoj vlastiti atelje. Veliki uspeh je doživeo 1913. godine kada je izlagao na „Salonu nezavisnih“ i u SAD.
