As we starts to get to the end of the year. I suspect that more will fall for phishing attack not only in Singapore but across the regions. Although this news article talks about individual victims, but Phishing attacks are more than just a an individual's problem. The reality is far more alarming. The same person who falls victim to a phishing incident can inadvertently expose their organisation to devastating cyber attacks. Phishing is not solely an individual risk; it's a shared responsibility. Organisations must prioritise cybersecurity education, technological defences, and a culture of vigilance to protect their workforce, assets, and reputation. Singapore is leading the charge with how we handle ransomware globally. 💪 Cybersecurity transcends borders, so getting on the same page with regulation is essential. Under the new policy guidance that is being developed at the Counter Ransomware Initiative Summit, organizations are urged to weigh up their options before caving to cybercriminals. I think we all know that paying ransomware just gives threat actors the resources they need to fund further attacks and has not proven to guarantee that stolen data is returned. Instead, victims should report the incidents to relevant authorities, review their data backups, and seek guidance from cybersecurity experts. Organizations should proactively prepare for potential attacks by implementing clear policies, frameworks, and communication plans - all according to the guidance scheme that SG is helping develop. It's great to see Singapore recognized as an important international player in cyber.
