In partnership with Standard Chartered’s DCDA team, we recently hosted our virtual panel: “#DigitalAssets: Breaking New Ground in Gender Representation”.
Bringing together industry experts from our team, the Association for Women in Cryptocurrency, and our ventures Zodia Markets and Libeara, we discussed opportunities to foster a more #inclusive industry, the potential for #tokenization and #genderlensinvesting to empower women in underserved communities, and advice for anyone looking to jumpstart their career in the space. It was an inspiring conversation – full of honest exchanges around shared passions, ambitions, and hope for the future.
Here are our key takeaways 👇
🚀 By actively fostering inclusivity and enabling diverse perspectives, we can create more inclusive solutions and stop the cycle perpetuated by historical gender biases. As Bharvi H. shared, progress is being made, but there’s still much to do.
🚀 Tokenization democratizes investment opportunities - As Jade Lee explained, tokenization can enable unbanked women to bypass traditional barriers and get direct access to government bonds, driving upward mobility, which is exactly what we're doing at Libeara, our tokenization platform.
🚀 Gender lens investing can be a powerful tool for advancing gender equality in the space. Nicole Waaka discussed the need for conscious bias towards women-led initiatives to really move the needle.
🚀 Tips to jumpstart your career: don’t be afraid to ask questions, join communities, attend conferences, and build your network. It's a growing space and everyone is learning, together. (A great place to connect is the #RealWorldAssetSummit happening on 17 Sept co-hosted by Libeara 👉https://www.rwasummit.io/)
🚀 Overall, there was strong consensus that digital assets have the power to open up the world of finance to those previously excluded and empower the underserved, women especially. As Esme H. reminded us, it wasn't until 1975 that women in the UK could open a bank account in their own name. Imagine what women can do in 2 generations' time if we harness the potential of today’s technology! 💪
A big thank you to #DCDA, Sunday Domingo, Eleanor Great, Diana Supe, Arina Too for the partnership, to our speakers for sharing their experiences so candidly, Rupanshi Chugh for firing up the discussion, and to everyone who tuned in. We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation and advancing a robust and more inclusive digital assets industry!
