March 13 (SeeNews) - Moldova's government said on Friday it has called a national red code alert as coronavirus cases in the country rose to six, and banned flights on several air routes to countries hit by the pandemic.
The measure aims to prevent further spread of the coronavirus in the country, the government said in a press release.
At the moment, six people are infected with the new cornavirus, while the test results of 27 suspected to being infected are still pending, according to health ministry data.
The government also decided to ban flights to Spain, Italy and France starting March 15.
Also, starting March 16, Moldova is banning flights to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Germany, Ireland, the U.K., Poland, Portugal and Romania.
Further on, Moldova plans to close some crossing points on the border with Romania and Ukraine.
Last week, Moldova's government has banned all gatherings of over 50 people until April 1 and closed all schools and kindergartens in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.
