Irakleio is dividit intae three pairts, Palaio Irakleio, Neo Irakleio an Ano Irakleio. The name dates back tae auncient times. The name durin the Ottoman Empire till the Greek War o Unthirldom wis kent as Arakli. Irakleio is linkit bi an ISAP green line o the ootdoor subway station. Irakleio is accessed north wi twa exits wi the Attiki Odos (nummer 6)/E94 whilk is accessed wi GR-1/E75 (Athens - Lamia - Thessaloniki) an aw an GR-8/E94. It is locatit aboot SE o GR-1 an Kifissou Avenue, SW o Marathon, W o Kifissias Avenue, an aboot 14 km N o Athens via GR-1 an aboot 3 km S an north o the Attiki Odos (nummer 6).
