Prof. Matteo Fassan is a cancer researcher with expertise in molecular pathology and histopathology of the gastrointestinal tract. He received his medical education and his specialty training in Surgical Pathology at the University of Padua and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Kimmel Cancer Center of Philadelphia (2006–2007) and a visiting scholar at the Ohio State University of Columbus (2013). At present, he is an Associate Professor of Surgical Pathology at Padua University. He focused his research on microRNAs' dysregulation in human pathology and microRNAs' use as innovative biomarkers to be included in clinical practice. He also has long-standing interests in murine models of human disease. On these topics, he has published more than 300 articles in international scientific journals and co-authored 5 books' chapters. He is an active fellow/member of the Italian Society of Pathology (SIAPeC-IAP), and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).
