Amol V. Janorkar serves as the Chairperson for the Department of Biomedical Materials Science in the School of Dentistry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. With his training and experience in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering over the past 20 years, he leads a research group that focuses on chemical and physical modification of biopolymer substrates, cell–biomaterial interactions, and three-dimensional in vitro tissue models. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute of Health (NIDCR and NIBIB), and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
