Assosiate Professor at the University of Bologna. Between 1992 and 2001 he has participated in three national research projects (PANDA, PrisCA, PNRA). Afterwards, he has participated in one European project and seven national ones, in which he ha also been sicietific responsible of the research unit (PRIN 2005 “Optimisation of agro-environmental scenarios for energy crops”). He has always been active in industrial crops for food and non-food uses, particularly focusing on the aspects of crop management within the cropping system. Member of the Italian Society for Agronomy; of the Plant and Soil working group of the International Institute of Sugar Beet Research (IIRB); of the scientific council of the Italian Biofuels Platform, working group Sustainability. Reviewer for Fields Crops Research and European Journal of Agronomy. Tutor or co-tutor of seven graduation theses and author of more than 150 scientific and divulgative papers.
