Lewis is the current research cluster lead for Sport Sciences for Health and Disease and is the Unit of Assessment lead for REF (Research Excellence Framework). He also holds editorial positions with BMC Nutrition and Frontiers in Sport and Active Living. Lewis has sourced over £325k of external income for research collaboration with industry partners both nationally and internationally. To date, this has led to over 40 high-quality outputs in nutrition and physiology with a focus on exercise metabolism and fatigue. This has primarily focussed on high-performance athletes, but Lewis conducts research in health-related areas such as Long Covid and Vitamin D supplementation. He is also soon to launch his book ‘Nutrition and Supplements in Cycling’ with the publisher Routledge (London). He contributes to multiple research groups and is the leader of an international research group in nutrition and metabolism. Lewis is the current Masters by Research course leader across the disciplines of sport, health, and life sciences. He validated this course and has contributed to other BSc and MSc course validations. Lewis module leads five modules and also supervises four doctoral students, with two completions to date.
