Short Biography

Siti Suri Arshad is a dedicated lecturer and researcher. She was appointed Head of Department of Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology (2008-2011), and Deputy Dean of Student and Academic Affairs (2011-2019) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM. She co-authored books on ‘A Problem-based Approach to Veterinary Cases’ and “A Problem-based Approach to One Health’. Siti Suri has always been fascinated by the uniqueness of viruses, and among her research achievements are molecular characterization of the animal coronaviruses and development of a rapid diagnostic test for the disease caused by the virus. Her current research interest is on One Health diseases, particularly zoonotic diseases such as the endemic Japanese Encephalitis, West Nile disease and newly emerging bocavirus and norovirus. Among her main contribution is the development of Veterinary Virology Laboratory at UPM to transform it into a recognized and respected diagnostic laboratory for the region.
