He graduated in Biological Sciences from Fundação Técnico Educacional Souza Marques (FTESM), as a Specialist in Medical Entomology from the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (IOC/FIOCRUZ), and with a PhD in Biological Sciences, National Museum (Zoology) Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He is currently a researcher in Public Health at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and Head of the Diptera Laboratory at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute. He has experience in the field of Medical Entomology, working mainly on the following topics: biodiversity and health; bioecology; morphology; and taxonomy of Culicidae, in urban areas, and their environmental preservation due to them being at risk of anthropogenic action caused by the installation of hydroelectric projects, settlements, and extractive exploration.
