The gel electrophoresis is a method of separation of substances possessing electrical
charge using the difference of their mobility in the electric field. The rate of migration of a
fragment of a protein or DNA depends on the intensity of the constant electric field, on its
resultant charge and the friction coefficient [1, 2]. The effect of the electrical force is

The gel electrophoresis is a method of separation of substances possessing electrical charge using the difference of their mobility in the electric field. The rate of migration of a fragment of a protein or DNA depends on the intensity of the constant electric field, on its resultant charge and the friction coefficient [1,2]. The effect of the electrical force is dependent on the fragment shape, its volume, mass and the viscosity of the medium. The fragments which are smaller than the gel pores migrate easily whereas the larger fragments are almost motionless. The problem with the analysis of gel images is that the bands can overlap, some of the bands are very weak and they are hardly visible. The gel images are very often corrupted by different kinds of noise, which makes their analysis difficult. As the standard software for analysing gel images are not very reliable, a human interaction is very often necessary. For this inspection, additional special tools are needed [3-7].
