Creating a region where LGBTQ+ people thrive depends on our whole community. Volunteers collaborate with The Sacramento LGBT Community Center to empower the most marginalized, advocate for equality and justice with community leaders, and innovate how we address community needs. The legacy of The Center is built on the skills and talents of decades of past volunteers – volunteering your time today ensures your chance to shape and make our future.

Whether you’re an individual, a couple, a family, or a company, we’ve got volunteer opportunities! Some placements require a long-term commitment and extensive training, while others are event-based and can be completed in a few hours. New opportunities are added all the time so if you don’t see a role you’re excited about now, check back regularly. We’re so grateful for your interest in volunteering with us!
As an organization, we fully support COVID-19 vaccinations. We require all volunteers to have proof of complete vaccination, written notice of an upcoming vaccination appointment, or an approved medical or religious exemption. Documentation will be required before your first day of service.
Offer of any volunteer position may be contingent on satisfactory results of a criminal history background check. Except for convictions for violent crimes, every volunteer application will be reviewed case-by-case if a background check reports a criminal history.
The Sacramento LGBT Community Center is a drug-free workplace committed to providing a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. Volunteers who report for service under the influence are subject to disciplinary action, including termination.
