    Park the machine in a clear area on level ground and chock the wheels.

    Raise the boom to the horizontal position and fully extend the boom. Install a suitable stand under the fourth section in order to prevent the boom from falling unexpectedly. Do not
    support the other sections.
    Stop the engine.

    The shims are used on the two 224-9203 Pad Assemblies (1). The 224-9203 Pad Assemblies are located at the lower front of the second 219-6761 Boom Assembly section.

    Measure the distance (A). This measurement is taken between the second and third boom sections.
    The minimum distance should be 26.0 mm (1.02 inch).
    Use a maximum of three 300-8828 Shims in order to obtain the minimum distance. The shims are 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) thick. Shim both of the wear pads equally.
    The 224-9203 Pad Assembly must be replaced if the 26.0 mm (1.02 inch) minimum distance cannot be obtained with the maximum of three 300-8828 Shims .
    If the 224-9203 Pad Assembly are replaced, measure the distance (A) and remove shims accordingly in order to maintain the 26.0 mm (1.02 inch) minimum distance.
