Listening script
Exercise 1
Gwen: Hi Phil! You look tired! What have you been up to?
Phil: I’m coming home from my physical education class. Boy, did we run!
Gwen: At least you had fun. I’m having a history class after this break. Another boring class…
Phil: Boring? I love history!
Gwen: Really? What’s there to love? Who cares what happened in the past?
Phil: Well, actually, the past is important to build the future. We can learn with the mistakes that others made in the past, don’t you think? Gwen: Gosh, you sound
just like my history teacher. I prefer IT. Technology is the future! We’re learning to work online and it’s great fun. Phil: I find it difficult. I still have trouble creating a
Word document.
Gwen: You’re joking, right? I can give you a hand if you like. I get really good marks!
Phil: Thanks, I’d love that. I wish I had more geography lessons. I love our teacher! She’s great!
Gwen: Well, I wish we had more science lessons.
Phil: I agree. It’s fun to do all those experiments in the lab.
Gwen: Well, there’s a subject we both like. (giggles)
Phil: (giggles)
Exercise 2
Let me tell you about my school. It’s not a modern school but I can’t imagine going to any other school. When you get to the reception, Miss Monique is there to help
you out. Our classrooms aren’t big, but our labs are spacious. There are a lot of teachers in our school so the staffroom is big too.
Miss Monique is also responsible for the nurse’s office. She is very dedicated to us all. She calls us her children. When we are feeling sick, she makes us a special cup of
her get better tea. In the end, we feel much better. I can’t forget to mention our common room because it’s where we all meet and share our lunch boxes. Actually,
that’s my favourite part of the day.
