LASIGE

LASIGE is a research unit at the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisboa. LASIGE has approximately 110 collaborators, amongst researchers with a doctoral degree, those working towards a PhD, MSc students, and other junior researchers. The current Director is Prof. Vasco T. Vasconcelos. LASIGE is a research unit in the area of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). It was founded in 1998, and its activities represent an added value to the Portuguese and European Science and Technology System (S&TS) fabric, materialized by several factors: Quality and impact of the outputs in research, technology transfer, and advanced training, with a prominent international projection; Alignment with state-of-the-art international research themes and agendas (e.g. Horizon-2020), increasing impact and promoting prospective industrial exploitation; Excellent comparative standing in the Portuguese S&TS fabric. LASIGE conducts scientific research in clearly identified cutting edges areas – Digital Accessibility and Systems for the Ageing Population, Cyber-physical Systems, Data and Systems Intelligence, Health and Biomedical Informatics, Reliable Software Systems, and Resilient Distributed and Networked Systems - supported by key indicators of excellence, including high quality publications, international and national competitive funding, advanced training, knowledge and technology transfer, industrial liaison, spin-offs and societal impact.
