The #EnergyCommunities of Greenvolt Group continue to expand, and sharing a future that includes everyone is truly encouraging. This is exemplified by the recent communities at SC Braga and CAISL - Carlucci American International School of Lisbon, developed by Greenvolt Comunidades.    In partnership with SC Braga, we have created the largest Energy Community in the #sports sector in Portugal. Over 4,000 photovoltaic panels have been installed in the Stadium, Training Center, Mini-Stadium, and the Offices, Museum, and Pavilion, with a production capacity exceeding 2 MW, making the Club energy self-sufficient and allowing the surplus to be shared with the surrounding community.    In the #education sector, CAISL will also start producing and sharing clean energy, in a partnership announced by the CEO of the Greenvolt Group, João Manso Neto, and the CEO of Greenvolt Communities, José Queirós de Almeida, DBA, who visited the school to explain the project to the students and played "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" with renewable energy questions.    It is a privilege to journey through this brighter and cleaner future together. #TeamSpirit is built daily, but some days are truly special. Such was the case with the initiative that brought the Greenvolt Corporate (Portugal) team together last week for a padel tournament – a healthy mix of competition and afterwork fun. With three participation options – competing in the tournament, joining a padel clinic to learn the basics of the sport, or supporting colleagues – the event was a great opportunity to unwind and connect outside the office while promoting healthy habits and strengthening our bonds. Congratulations to the winning team, “The Interns,” who showed the “veterans” how it's done 💪. “The excellent atmosphere made me feel really part of the company,” said Lourenço Durão, a Procurement Trainee at Greenvolt Corporate, a sentiment shared by his teammate Eduardo Mendonça, Asset Management Trainee at Greenvolt Corporate. Above all, we congratulate all participants for their enthusiasm, good energy, and contributions to promoting a positive #workplace culture.

Today marks the inauguration of Teixeira Duarte's Self-Consumption Production Unit, a project developed by Greenvolt Group through Greenvolt Next Portugal, with over 2,000 installed solar panels and a capacity to produce 1,716 MWh annually 👏. This unit, now fully operational, was established without any upfront investment from the company, showcasing once again the flexibility of #DecentralizedProduction solutions, namely in terms of their financing model. João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, highlighted that "this project aligns with our vision: Distributed Generation is undoubtedly the solution for companies to transition to renewable energy while simultaneously reducing their energy costs," with even greater savings possible through our newly launched Solar Storage system. We are very pleased to support Teixeira Duarte, one of Portugal's largest business groups with a presence across four continents, in their #decarbonization efforts and in making their Montijo operational center more #sustainable.

The Greenvolt Group announced its results for the first quarter of 2024, with revenues reaching €101.6 million (+60% compared to 1Q23). This growth was driven by significant increases in the #UtilityScale and #DistributedGeneration segments, which offset the lower contribution from the #SustainableBiomass business. Given the low electricity prices in the United Kingdom, penalizing the Sustainable Biomass segment, and the expected absence of asset rotation operations in Utility-Scale, the EBITDA totaled €18.7 million (-21% compared to 1Q23) and the net result attributable to Greenvolt, excluding the effect of discontinued operations, amounted to -€1.5 million, with the total net result attributable to the Group being -€2.7 million. From an operational standpoint, highlights include a 4.1% YoY increase in energy injected from Sustainable Biomass to 264.3 GWh, a 224 MW increase in the Utility-Scale pipeline totaling 8.6 GW, and a 47% YoY growth in Distributed Generation installations to 20.6 MWp, also with a 57% YoY growth in the total backlog (signed contracts) to 246.2 MWp. “The results recorded in this first quarter are not representative of Greenvolt’s expectations for the whole of 2024. We anticipate a significant improvement in activity, as well as profitability over the next quarters, developing our project portfolio at the same time as implementing the strategy of asset rotation that we commit to with our stakeholders”, says João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group. The Greenvolt Group remains confident in its strategic direction and anticipates a significant increase in results for 2024 compared to 2023, focusing on expanding its portfolio, enhancing its market position, and delivering long-term value to its stakeholders.

Because transforming matters, the Greenvolt Group continues to #expand its Sustainable #Biomass business by reaching an agreement to acquire 100% of Kent Renewable Energy Limited, which owns a biomass renewable heat and power generation plant in Sandwich, Southeast #England. The plant is fully operational with a production capacity of 28.1 MW of electricity and 25 MWth of heat, and in 2023, it generated approximately 210.8 GWh of energy, equivalent to supplying power to 50,000 homes and saving around 45,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, actively contributing to the UK’s climate goals and aligning with the principles of the circular economy. “This acquisition strengthens the Greenvolt Group’s commitment to one of its strategic pillars, the production of energy from sustainable biomass, making it one of the largest producers of electricity from biomass in England,” says João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, adding that “the production of energy from biomass is fundamental to ensuring the energy transition and security of supply”. The transaction is expected to be completed no later than by October this year – subject to customary conditions and approvals – boosting Greenvolt Group’s biomass renewable energy production capacity to 179.2 MW, with 68.7 MW in England, making it one of the top 5 electricity producers from locally sourced biomass in the country. The Greenvolt Group was present at the European Sustainable Energy Week #EUSEW2024, held last week in Brussels and broadcast worldwide. Our Director of Regulatory Affairs, Sofia Pinto Barbosa, participated in the session “Energy storage + renewables: the proven formula in action,” where it was discussed how replicating successful business cases can facilitate the integration and optimal performance of #storage and renewables, and how industry, government, and the financial sector can collaborate to expedite funding and drive the energy transition. "Integrating high level of intermittent Renewable Energy Sources (RES) at the same time we will be displacing fossil fuel generation capacity will require a wide range of storage technologies. Member States need to assess their flexibility needs and establish storage targets that are adapted to their national circumstances. Long-term secure revenue market mechanisms are critical for creating an attractive environment for battery energy storage investments. One of the main bottlenecks for renewable energy deployment is the grid. In this context, batteries will play a key role by enabling energy shifting and providing essential grid services.
