Pronouns in Portuguese

Object pronouns in Portuguese, known as pronomes oblíquos, refer to the object of the verb when it is represented by a pronoun rather than a noun. These pronouns are not the subject of the sentence, which distinguishes them from subject pronouns.

There are two types of object pronouns:

• Direct Object Pronouns: Used without a

preposition and directly linked to the verb.

• Indirect Object Pronouns: Often connected

to the verb with a preposition or based on the

verb's structure.

In everyday Portuguese, some object pronouns mirror subject pronouns, making them easier to use in conversational language. Let's explore their structure:
