The Lieutenant Arnaud De La Lieusade is assigned to restore order in Corsica, accompanied with his sister Hortense. He falls for Ornella. Hortense and her suitor, Giordano, an ambitious tax collector, decide to stop at nothing to satisfy Arnaud's desire for Ornella.
