The representative works of Hasegawa Shin, centered on the so-called "Matabe-mono" where chivalry and human emotions are depicted, such as "Kutsukake Tokijiro," "Seki no Yatappe," and "Mabuta no Haha," were made into a TV drama by a super-luxurious director team including Yamashita Kousaku, Inagaki Hiroshi, and Makino Masahiro, and a luxurious cast including Tsuruta Kouji, Katsu Shintaro, Kataoka Chiezo, Yorozuya Kinnosuke, Sugawara Bunta, and others, causing a sensation.
