Reprimanded by her mistress, the cook leaves, and matters in the house are all awry; in this emergency, Willie is summoned from his office to come straighten out matters. He encounters more than he bargained for: he is tasked with cooking, dishwashing, and cleaning, and company is expected. He sticks to his tasks, and in the end he placates his fiancée and her mother by his willingness to atone for his smoking habit by being willing to pitch in and get everything done.
