Harry is in hospital wounded, but when Mary arrives at the hospital she finds Kaye already there. Harry is affected by Dunkirk and when he tells his account of events, Mary tries to get her journalist father Arthur to print it in his newspaper. Meanwhile Edward Grant finds himself in custody being questioned by police over his Fascist connections, leading to Dorothea to seek Sir Cecil Mortimer for help. But her attempts at blackmail put her at a disadvantage as Sir Cecil makes a indecent proposal of his own. And she isn't the only one as Moira finds herself working as a photographer's model. She has told the Slaters she is working in a tea room, but they are suspicious about the amount of money she brings home, and Victor the photographer has a proposal for her to make some extra money.
