Her father orders the boys to get rid of the dog and they do so by placing it in a grip in the rear seat of a strange auto. With the loss of the dog Isobel becomes hysterical and the boys are then ordered to recover the dog. They find a black dog which they whitewash, but which is revealed as the wrong one when it is given a bath. Isobel's illness takes an acute turn for the worse and she is only cured when the doctor opens his grip and finds not only the lost dog, but a litter of puppies as well.
