Marianne and Mariette think only of finery and trinkets, and Marie can no longer cope with the crowds of creditors who come every day. Then Mumme decides to travel to his old patron, Count Hohenhausen, and ask him for help. On the way, however, he meets a rich widow and marries her. He forgets to return in time to his daughters, who, driven from home and farm, go out into the wide world. They get to know the Count, who is a skirt hunter. He invites Marianne, who introduces herself as a baroness, to his castle, but Mariette, who introduces herself as a dancer, approaches in the mask of his lackey. Finally, he gets the fresh, natural Marie a job as a maid in the farm house. She knows and loves him as a simple soldier. By chance, everyone, including the ballet master and his new wife, meet in the castle. The Count in his triple role gets into great entanglements. In the end, however, everything dissolves in pleasure. Marie gets her "soldier" and the family an estate abroad. Written by Mein Film See less
