A sustainable venue

Ensuring your event is as sustainable as possible

Sustainability at Prince Philip House

Together, the Royal Academy of Engineering and Company of Cooks work hard to position Prince Philip House as a sustainable venue in Central London.

Thirstywork Sustainability water

Sustainable water

Our inhouse caterer uses ‘Thirsty Work’, a water dispenser that cuts the waste and emissions that come with the manufacture, transportation, and disposing of single use bottles.

Passive infrared (PIR) sensors for taps are used throughout the building to control the flow of a pre-set amount of water into the tap.

No single use plastics

Company of Cooks continues to improve their policy for no single use plastic and do not use plastic straws, pipettes for canapés or single use plastic bottles for serving water.

Pura still and sparkling water is served at events in reusable, glass water bottles which are cleaned onsite.

We partnered with Churchill Group after being impressed with their approach to sustainability and their drive for all water based, tablet cleaning products and their objectives to have zero plastic waste.

Energy & carbon

Prince Philip House has an IQ Vision Trend Building Management system which monitors the building’s energy output.

Our heat recovery and energy efficient HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) system uses up to one-third less fuel than older models.

We installed condensing boiler’s which use less fuel to heat water and the building than conventional boilers.

90% of the buildings lighting is LED. With PIR motion sensors lighting is fitted in the main event spaces for energy efficiency.

We replaced our gas kitchens with electric appliances.

The Royal Academy of Engineering, at Prince Philip House, adheres to strict environmental and sustainability, procurement guidelines when buying and outsourcing services.
