The app used to be great, but suddenly, it is awful - almost unusable. If I close out an article, it simply reverts to a blank page. Then I have to choose the NYT logo which refreshes the whole thing and lands me back at the top of the article list. At that point I have to scroll all the way down and figure out where I left off perusing the list. When I contacted them, the suggestion was that I read it on their website! Ha! (Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.)

Post the most recent 2-3 uodates, it takes too long to load. Then once it's loaded, it refreshes very frequently & b/c of that, when scrolling through a set of photos/videos (swiping either direction) as part of the top story, it looses your place in the series of images & then makes you start over after the story refreshes multiple times. Also, it gets confused as to the swiping motion being for the top images or for the next/news paper section. Pls fix!

Content good; app not good. On opening, it takes a half-minute to finish "updating" in order to display the opening page. Every other news app I've used or seen opens immediately with the most current, up-to-the-moment news. It is beyond me how this NY Times news app is constructed so poorly. It functions as if one of the app engineers inserted a thirty second delay loop into the opening code. They've known about this, and still haven't fixed it. Don't any of them ever use the actual app?
