@mrephabricator, Gujari is actually written in multiple scripts. Most Gujari speakers in India are in states where Hindi is a dominant and official language, and in Nepal where Nepali (written in Devanagari) is the national language. Gujari is predominately an oral language and is not taught widely in schools or is used in media or publications. So, those residing in India and Nepal learn Devanagari due to school education and use it for Gujari when they need to. Van Gujjari, a variant of Gujjari, uses Devanagari for this reason even though all Van Gujjars are Muslims who would have preferred Perso-Arabic over Devanagari. Over 174 books are translated and several books are published in Van Gujjari and these are in Devanagari. Gujjars living in Pakistan and Afghanistan would use Perso-Arabic.
Note that Gujari is most often written in the Arabic script (گوجری).

Thanks for the clear guidance, @jhsoby.
I made a couple of tests just now:
- Commons subtitles in rmf: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/TimedText:Gju-Taukeer-Alam-Introduction.webm.rmf.srt
- ✅ These were shown in the video interface
- Commons Beta cluster subtitles in rmf: https://commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/TimedText:Diffedit.webm.rmf.srt
- ❌ These were *not* shown in the video interface
This is not a request for a new language for translation though. @psubhashish1 wants to add (and presumably show) subtitles in these languages which aren't supported. He shouldn't be required to translate (or find someone to translate) the MediaWiki interface in order to do that.

I would note that there is a very popular gadget in ruWP to make interwiki list display and sort languages alphabetically in Russian [1] (which I use myself, though not sure if it works on Minerva at all), so this sort of thing clearly has value to some users, though not necessarily as an addition to the pagename.
This changed in T349000

It seems like somewhere along the way Minerva/MF stopped showing translated language names at all, and now shows only original language names. Is this intentional from your side? If yes, then this task can be closed since the translated label is no longer there. If no, then it should be stalled until translated labels are in the interface again, and then re-assessed.
@stjn the screenshots in the description dont' seem to match the current experience. Is this still a problem? If so could you help me get this ticket updated?
