Description

UPDATE: SPARQL data is not updated by Nobelprize.org Team see T234811#5552880

Task: To see if we can set up a federated search Wikidata <-> Nobel Data
About the Nobel SPARQL project

Status Resolved

Queries

image.png (822×1 px, 539 KB)

image.png (845×1 px, 765 KB)

Getting also more information using SPARQL Diploma, Prize speech, Nobel Lecture, Prize Presentation, documentary...

Next step:

  1. T202034: Nobel data for 2017 is missing
  2. looks that we should have a new property for exact match data.nobelprize.org and Wikidata eg.

Information needed

From Wikidata:SPARQL_federation_input we need the following info (TODO: Check with Nobel Data)

SPARQL Endpointhttp://data.nobelprize.org/sparql/ - query UI link
DocumentationSpecification of Nobel Prize Linked Data - Version 1.0
Licenceterms-of-use CC-0
BackgroundAs Nobel Data has a working SPARQL endpoint and has working integrations with DBpedia this could be a good candidate to start with. Wikidata projects as scholia I guess can add values to the Nobel Data Linked data

In Scholia, we have an aspect for awards. For the Nobel Prize in Physics it is available here: https://tools.wmflabs.org/scholia/award/Q38104

Thanks @Fnielsen have you seen any federated services beeing used together with WD #Scholia ?

I guess also the #Scholia tool will be useful in the selection process when evaluating candidates... .i.e. Salgo60 ==> not this time

Feedback Hans Mehlin - Nobel Media AB

Kul! Wikidata är högt upp min min önskelista. Vet att jag har fullt upp med annat till mitten av oktober. Hoppas sedan få mandat att arbeta mer med våra datamängder. Vi håller kontakten!

Next step: Get confirmation that the below info is correct ==> we can start the process to set up Wikidata

From Wikidata:SPARQL_federation_input we need the following info (TODO: Check with Nobel Data)

SPARQL Endpointhttp://data.nobelprize.org/sparql/ (feels not working) ?!?!?!

Regarding "not working" sparql endpoint: I think you need to provide the query parameter. This works for me http://data.nobelprize.org/sparql?query=SELECT%20COUNT(*)%20WHERE%20{%20?s%20?p%20?o%20}

Thanks @Fnielsen yes you are right example
SELECT DISTINCT * WHERE { ?s ?p ?o} LIMIT 10

FYI: I have contacted Hans Mehlin Nobel Media and he told me that Wikidata is of high prio for him and he hope that we can do something later this year

@Smalyshev can you update me of the status of Nobel Data as federated search in Wikidata

I saw your change 10 augusti 2018 kl. 23.59 by Smalyshev_(WMF) link

Wikidata_Query_Service/User_Manual/SPARQL_Federation_endpoints updated with Nobel Data

Salgo60 claimed this task.

Step 1 Wikidata -> Nobel data is done

Next step will be in october to do NobelData -> Wikidata (had small communication with Nobel Data Hans Melin about that)

"Next step: looks that we should have a new property for exact match data.nobelprize.org and Wikidata eg."

Would it be best with multiple different properties: One for each type (e.g., laureate, city, country)?

Plan is to create a new property for exact Match and Nobel SERVICE http://data.nobelprize.org/sparql.

But to get this going I uploaded exact match in P2888

  1. SPARQL to get all people in the Nobel db
  2. Used OpenRefine to match ==>
    1. 737 automatched
    2. 146 matched manual
  3. Quickstatement used to upload see batch 3744
