Sent him an email asking if he’d be open to suggestions. 3. He responded immediately with a "Yes!" 4. Recorded a short video explaining how I'd fix it, and ended with a pitch. 5. Boom! Meeting invite. He was already sold before the meeting because I’d proven my worth upfront. And he knew I was the right fit because I showed that I cared about the purpose of the newsletter, which was to sell. So the takeaway is this: 1. Know your market 2. Identify a problem 3. Include pain points, where they spend time online, and how your company helps solve pain points. 2. Provide detailed company and product information. Take writers through a demo. Send them assets that explain how your company and products work. 3. Dive into SEO and content strategy. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to content marketing and SEO. Create a doc that walks them through how to write and optimize content. 4. Give them examples. Provide 3-4 articles that capture the tone, format, and topic you want to cover. 5. Provide metrics Show actual numbers to writers about what content is performing and why. 6. Content brief Don't just send a topic and expect magic. Fill out a content brief. Quick Tip 💡 How Do I Conduct Keyword Research? Let's say I want to write an article on the topic "Copywriting for Lead Generation." This topic is essentially the key phrase that I want to rank for. The first step I take is to Google the topic and see what articles rank on the SERP's first page, including the keywords these blogs use in the meta tags (meta title, slug, and description). Note them down! Let's go to the 2nd step and use the Google SERP features. I always keep a close eye on the Google SERP features, which include: → Google autocomplete: Here, I start with the seed keyword "copywriting" to generate or uncover topic ideas and find long-tail keywords I can rank quickly for. → People also ask (PAA): I use this to determine what questions people are asking relevant to the topic I want to write. I will use them as secondary keywords and answer these questions in my blog. → Related searches: I use this to determine related search queries that can become my secondary keywords. Coming to the 3rd step! I use the Ubersuggest Chrome Extension to find the → Keyword/keyphrase variations → The search volume and → The KD (Keyword Difficulty) Then, I sometimes use the Answer the Public Tool to find out various questions people ask that are relevant to my topic of interest if I don't get many ideas from the Google SERP features. And this is it! This strategy gives me a comprehensive idea about the following: → The primary keyword I will use → The keyword variations that I can use in case the primary keyword I chose is not popular → A list of secondary and other long-tail keywords I can use → A list of questions I should answer in my blog post. Trust me, this sounds like a lot of effort, but it's worth the pain. I have been using the same strategy to rank on the SERPs and build a monthly readership of >90K people visiting my website on an organic basis from Google, Bing, and Yandex search engines. I'm a freelance writer yet I advise B2B SaaS brands to never create content if they suffer any of these affiliations: -No content strategy -No product market fit -Siloed content production -No SME contribution system -No writer onboarding strategy Why? Because: Excellent writing won't sell a product no one needs. Content that the rest of the revenue team don't contribute to OR can't use is missing the mark. No great content can be produced without the nuanced touch of SMEs. Not even Ann Handley can create brand-centric content without knowing your brand and how you differ from competitors. If you create content about everything, from tomatoes to bitcoin stocks, you'll attract everyone (maybe even your target audience), but they won't see you as a potential business to purchase from—just that brand that posts a lot of random stuff. So, what should you do if you are in any of these situations? Take a step back and fix that problem first. That is probably the reason your current content isn't reporting any strong success.

People don't pay for writing good content. They pay for what it does to them: - Getting clients. - Predictable lead flow. - Getting more revenue. This directly impacts their lives on multiple levels. Time, family, stress level, lifestyle, etc. Writing content (ghostwriting/coaching) is a delivery method I use because this is what I do & love doing it. It doesn't matter what you do & what your service is. It's easy to forget when you market yourself. You are in love with your business. You are passionate about it & you think your prospects share the same passion for it, but they don't care. Until they have a reason to. So, show what your thing does to them. Even when you educate them on what you do, be clear on why it is important to get them where they want to be. We are selfish. We care about ourselves first.
