Winners of Innovative Green Projects Competition Announced


Amman, January 27 (Petra) – The Jordan Society for Scientific Research, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity, in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, announced the winners of the Innovative Small Green Projects Competition, held under the theme "Innovate Today for a Green Tomorrow."

The Society's President, Reda Khawaldeh, stated during the announcement ceremony in Amman that the competition provided a platform for entrepreneurs in the green economy sector to showcase sustainable, innovative ideas aimed at enhancing small and medium enterprises.

Khawaldeh explained that the competition received 210 submissions, with 63 applications excluded for not meeting the criteria. Projects were distributed across 13 categories, including eco-tourism, recycling, energy, water, climate, agriculture, and technology. Following a thorough evaluation, 20 innovative projects were selected as winners, representing various fields of the green economy.

He added that the competition promotes sustainability and innovation while providing financial support to projects addressing issues such as clean transportation, waste management, smart green building, climate change mitigation, and sustainable land use. A dedicated platform will be created to enhance public awareness of these projects and their significance for sustainable development.

Khaled Khreisat, CEO of JAIP and a member of the competition's advisory board, noted that the winning projects were chosen based on their alignment with green economy objectives. The total grant of $365,000 will be distributed across sectors such as green technology, renewable energy, agriculture, waste management, food production, and green tourism.

Notable winners included initiatives like the Plant World Project and Agricultural Technology for Climate Impacts in the green technology sector. The Water Harvesting Project for Integrated Farms and Hydroponic Oasis Project excelled in the agriculture sector, while innovative renewable energy solutions such as the SolarDrain Clamp Project and Eco-Sprinklers Agrivoltaics were also recognized.

Additionally, projects addressing waste management, sustainable food production, and green tourism, including the Recycle of CO2 initiative and Mafraq Sustainable Agricultural Resort, were among the winners.

The event featured a panel discussion titled "Entrepreneurship and Innovation... Green Economy as a Priority," which included prominent figures such as former Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Duwairi and representatives from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the European Union.

The competition demonstrates Jordan’s commitment to promoting green innovation and highlights its pivotal role in supporting sustainability and resilience against climate change challenges.
