I'm the original author of <a href="https://monix.io/" target="_blank">Monix</a>, a Scala and FP library for composing asynchronous programs. I'm a major contributor to <a href="https://github.com/typelevel/cats-effect" target="_blank">Cats Effect</a> and the <a href="https://typelevel.org/" target="_blank">Typelevel</a> ecosystem. My goal with Patreon is to cover operational expenses: <ul><li>the domain name (monix.io) costs currently $34.88 per year;</li></ul><ul><li>hosting costs, $180 per year on DigitalOcean: a droplet with 2 GB RAM, used to serve the website, along with self-hosted analytics (Matomo), and soon I might add a comments forum;</li><li>I also have a personal <a href="https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/" target="_blank">IntelliJ IDEA</a> license, a <a href="https://vimeo.com/alexelcu">Vimeo</a> account, and other tools and services which help me develop and promote my OSS work;</li></ul> It's not expensive, but I have services, several domain names, and projects I maintain, which add up. Given this is a labor of love, consuming my free time, it would be great not to pay out of my pocket. I also like coffee ☕️ I'm looking forward to having more fun and supporting my fellow maintainers and contributors from the Typelevel community. Any help is appreciated.
