Tui Shaub Cord serves as principal, strategic engagement and research, at Omidyar Network. In this role, she explores the second and third order effects of technologies like generative AI on social systems and epistemic infrastructures. She leads sense-making efforts—managing research to anticipate potential near-term future scenarios, derive meaningful insights, and develop pro-social approaches for navigating technological shifts.
Prior to joining Omidyar Network, she was a long-form journal editor for publications like World Affairs and Noema and an associate director at Berggruen Institute for the Transformations of the Human program, bringing together philosophers, artists, technologists, and academics to grapple with the philosophical stakes of AI and biotech. The program embedded cohorts inside AI and biotech labs to understand decision making processes and belief systems alongside their engineer counterparts. Earlier in her career, Tui served as the marketing head for affordable housing and built environment initiatives in the Mayor of London’s office and the Royal Institute of British Architects, where she developed strategies to promote sustainable urban development. Tui also worked as an experiential marketer for the BBC and other UK institutions, crafting innovative engagement campaigns with a mission of positive social impact.
Tui holds an M.A. in US studies: history and politics from University College London, and a B.A. in politics, philosophy, and history from Birkbeck College, University of London.
